2019-05-27 14:44:44 +0000 UTCThis arc definitely takes what, up until now, has been a more-or-less straightforward fighting anime and throws a few curveballs into the mix (which, as Curtis rightly notices time and again, is a formula that has absolutely survived the test of time). It also solves the issue of escalation quite nicely, since instead of just throwing bigger and badder dudes at the plot, you make the characters think/test their resolve, etc. Not to say there won't be bigger and badder dudes, but it's always nice to see a series, particularly a shounen fighting anime, not rely on them all the time.
