Love this episode cause it’s kind of like a Clint Eastwood western. A man with no name on the run from the law comes to town and befriends a family, but doesn’t get along with the thugs in the town. Eventually they have a duel in town at dusk and his true identity is revealed and he’s exiled from the town. Really well done episode.

You don't get too many villains like Azula, these days. Shows try too hard to either make the villain either established as evil with barely anything else other than that, personality-wise.. or the show tries to make the villain as lovable or makes you see their point of view. Azula is a sociopath. Unhinged, psychopathic/sociopathic and/or deranged villains in shows are too rare nowadays and when they show up, they usually lack any personality other than "I must kill the protagonist because of reasons". This is why Azula is such a great villain that you just love to hate (that's why I do, at least).

I think Irohs days as a general were supposed to show us how even he was corrupted by the fire nation. Iroh was never a bad person he always did what he thought was right. He fought for his nation that in a way is honorable. The death of his son made Iroh realize the fire nations efforts were wrong. After Zuko was burned by his father he went to help Zuko because he believed in him. Iroh always wanted the best for Zuko and that’s why he helped him track down Aang. Iroh was always a good person it’s just that war and the awfulness of the fire nation (the country he loved) made him do bad things Iroh is a wize character and if it were not for his experiences he would be a whole different and weaker character. Also it’s somewhat important to remember this is an Amrican show that came out during the Iraq and Afghanistan war time itself and because of that there might have been some outside influences on the show. Technically this show is not even Anime because it was made in America but that’s a whole other point entirely.

Yeah I've always actually been curious if his son was anything like him.

Smaller detail I appreciated. We get a glimpse of Iroh as general, and even though he's recognizably jovial, he's being gleeful about conquering the greatest city in the Earth Kingdom. As much as we all love Iroh, he's not perfect, and that depth makes him even more compelling.

No one's spoiling dude,Ursa learned that Azalon ordered Zukos death,she left the night that Azalon died,your supposed too put 2 and 2 together and realize she killed him and fled to save her son,which Ozai took advantage of to usurp Iroh.its never touched on in the show again

I'm pretty sure this was the sequence of events: 1. Iroh was heir to the throne, and a war hero. 2. Iroh's son dies, so Iroh retires and essentially gives up on the war. 3. Ozai asks Firelord Azulon to revoke Iroh's birthright since Iroh quit. 4. Azulon is enraged, and tells Ozai to kill Zuko as punishment. 5. Ursa hears of this, and poisons Azulon to save Zuko. 6. Ursa flees after committing the assassination.

The grandpa firelord was killed and he did tell Zuko's dad that his son needs to die because he was willing to take irohs throne away because his son died. the story won't really tell you unless you read the comics what happens with Zuko's mom but obviously something happened the night she left the grandfather died I won't spoil how it all connects in case you want to stream reading the comics or make a video of reading the comics and reacting to what you read

It's not surprising that Zuko is as troubled as he is with having an asshole for a dad and a psychopath for a sister, thankfully he still has Uncle Iroh to serve as a much needed father figure and mentor.

Now is the time to remember that the one that scarred his face was his last remaining parent.

This show often does a great job, for a kids show, using implication and scenes without dialogue. Getting the message and the feels across with tone and imagery.
