That was specifically the nature of my question: Was her dad the caring, protective type he seemed or was it a case of sinister ulterior motives, as we’ve seen from anime parents in the past.

2019-05-17 21:18:54 +0000 UTCBit of trivia: Toph was originally going to be the earthbender in the show's intro (where you can now recognize Pakku, Azula, and Aang). When they decided on the awesome version of her we see here, the original design was used for another character seen briefly later on (although the Boulder is pretty close, too).
