It's funny that you mentioned that someone without devil fruit abilities could keep up with someone with devil fruit abilities. Fun fact: Shanks and his entire crew have absolutely no devil fruit abilities. (Don't think it's ever touched upon in the anime, sadly.. that just makes him and his crew that much more badass)

2019-07-10 17:52:53 +0000 UTCThe thing about cutting nothing yet cutting steel is basically about will. If you would swing a sword at a bunch of leaves you would inevitably cut it like it or not. If you would try cutting steel your sword would break, however zoro is now able to not cut the leaves even though it would be impossible. About as impossible as him cutting steel. (you can also see it as making your sword dull for 1 second and then turn it into a lightsaber in the next)
