THE PRODIGY - New Standup Material

This honestly felt pretty dry to me, maybe it's harsh and for that, I apologize. But I'm not the person to sugarcoat things. It wasn't horrible or anything, it just felt flat to me. Maybe this type of humour isn't for me, don't know., could very well be. In which case it wouldn't be your delivery or story that's the problem.

Unfortunately, whether it's reaction videos or standup, all of that is just me and who I am. I've never been a fan of fake personas, outside of a couple wrestling gimmicks. :-)

The material is decent really, the impact of it is obviously dulled when it´s just you and not an audience but i enjoyed the bit. Im not totally sure how to put it but your facial expressions or how you deliver the jokes seems a little out of place or i guess over the top, it reflects how you usually act during reactions alot and even tho i have watched you for a long time im unsure if that is just "everyday normal you" or "funny fat man reaction god you" or if those people are just one and the same really. Maybe those parts are just "muscle memory" in a way from how you usually act on camera while engaging a audience you can´t see but i feel it translates in this medium in poor way (not a shitty way just to be clear) and maybe it flows better while in front of irl people and in turn makes me watching from home like it more, but I guess you already know that part.

Yea, the "flavor" line is definitely transitional... I agree on the "prodigy" line not having the desired impact. However, I'm not yet quite ready to give up on it, only because I think I delivered it poorly. :-)

The part where you talked about you yourself selecting the flavor felt not funny, at least not on par with what was around it, even though it might be necessary bridge for the next part. So the level dropped a bit there. It picked back up when Irish spring soap came around, but your "reaction to the soap" was horrifying... Blackmailing/taking on god/ skeet shooting angels was funny, but like the Phillip said the 'prodigy' punchline felt flat. That's my 2 pennies about the subject. I'm not best critic and I like most (if not all) of your content and I'm easily amused so it might be very biased and flawed.

Yeah, but that was the concept of this whole thing, that he is working on a stand-up set and is testing jokes, doing the optimization that he can do without a crowd. And he also did make clear that it is not optimal and will not work as well as a crowd would. So i kinda have to say that this comment is a bit irrelevant.

Haven't and won't listen unless there's a crowd if you want an opinion. Standup is an obsession of mine, you are a funny guy but the atmosphere, story, vibe, delivery is part of the performance which is something you aren't doing if there's no live audience, at least in this particular medium. I can't give any criticism because your jokes could be the best ever told but without seeing how you perform them in front of an audience, it's irrelevant, ever notice how really funny bits/jokes fall short when it's a friend that's repeating it to you or telling you what they are rather then the comedian? It's because the presentation/build up isn't the same. Everyone acts differently depending on who "the crowd" is at any given time, until there is a crowrd and your "on stage persona" is presented.....any criticism is wasted and it's literally irrelevant whether your jokes are good or not because they only appeal to "this crowd" who already enjoys you and wants to see you, until its people who aren't specifically following or paying to see you, then opinions are also irrelevant

I wish I could critique but I literally giggle at anything you say.

This one had me smiling, but not laughing out loud. I like the concept of the story but I feel like the delivery could use a little work. (The idea of a 7 year old being able to take on God is an awesome out of the box piece of comedy though). The prodigy punchline didn't payoff that well. My honest critique. Hope I wasn't too harsh on you.

1:12 I think you hung onto that reminiscing look for a bit too long. Imo it work better if it's a quick but noticeable look so show that while you make fun of yourself for it it still bothers/ haunts you. That's it's though I love how natural you talk for your routine. It really makes it hard to find things funny when comedians talk all Goofy and weird when doing a show. Unsurprisingly. I found this very funny

This was really good it enjoyed it more than expected being a dry standup bit. Only two things that stood out to me - an obvious difference in the first bit in the excitement levels for the Irish Springs soap. It was hard to tell if you were excited by it tasting good or terrified of it tasting bad at first, so a little more ominous tone or body language may help when first mentioning it. On the second bit, just seemed prime for some harsher language like a mobster/mafia guy would use instead of just “you couldn’t play the game right”. But that’s more a preference than a critique I suppose. Still, really solid material for sure

If this is the one you wanted critique on, then here's my take. If not then sorry for being a asshole. But I'm gonna pretty much break down every thing I thought was mildly not funny. I love your comedy Curtis but I this is my super nitpicky take on it
