As for Korra its the worst show I've watched hands down, from dropped plot points all over the place, to spitting on the original Avatar's legacy by contradicting it every step of the way. Then you get the most unsatisfying ending ever but its okay because Lesbians kissed so progressive

I still think the ending is a cop out, Iroh getting his tea shop back was the best part.

I hope you consider watching Korra in the future! It's more dark/mature themes

I've watched enough anime now that I'd really have to sit down and think about that one... Certainly Shou Tucker and Black Zetsu make most hated... Favorites would include Azula and Hidan... There are also some favorite characters that, while committing some seriously questionable acts, can't necessarily be considered villains. Such as Hisoka and Ainz.

While I admit that I still hate the resolution of the Aang -Ozai fight (it still feels like a deus ex machina, and I just dislike those), the overall ending was better than I remembered. Also, Azula's descend into madness is probably one of my favorite things ever. She is my third favorite character of this show (Iroh, Toph, Azula).

korra's writing is just subpar compared to the original. though it has some of the best villians (a certin prisoner who is voiced by a certain musican is one of my favorite villians)the protagonist group is pretty awful.

I've already begun the series. I'm watching at VRV. :-)

If you enjoyed the anime the manga is still going on and the story telling just keeps getting better.

I really hope you check out Korra at some point. It's tonally a very different show and some behind the scenes stuff affected it, but I loved it almost as much as The Last Airbender.

Poor Suki she's so perfect in everything else but nicknames are not for her and despite her being a super bitch she was a great character so it was pretty tough to see Azulas complete and utter mental breakdown I definitely need to get those comics

One of the greatest finales of all time. Sometimes it's easy to forget that Azula is just a fourteen year old little girl, but I think it becomes really evident when you see her end. Watching Aang go full avatar on Ozai is always satisfying! "Firelord Ozai, you and your forefathers have devastated the balance of the world!" That delivery always gives me chills. Such a satisfying end. Now, if you'd like to know what happened to Azula, and/or Zuko's mother, you'll just have to read the comics.

I'm really glad you're not seeing Korra after this, Korra is a badly written mess, they tried to basically make Korra the anti-Aang, she's a loudmouth brat who gets everything handed to her and demands everyone do things her way, I hate the love triangle BS in it and I hate the retcons they make to the mythos of Avatar with Wan and kite squid, without the original headwaiter of Avatar it suffered badly, they swapped out the deeper asian mythology with stupid miyazaki knock offs and a complete misunderstanding of what yin yang means

This series was a big part of my childhood, going through it again with you is awesome. I kinda wish some of the after ending stories were animated, like Zuko finding his mom, unfortunately those only exist in comic form for now, maybe we can get you to do those one day. Curtis, make sure you watch the subbed version of JoJo, the engrish they have (especially in season 2 and onwards) is part of what makes the series so amazing, you're going to be missing out big time if you watch the dubs.

I gotta thank you for watching this too. I watched avatar as a kid, and honestly I never appreciated it. It was just one of the cool shows you know? So seeing it now as a 25 year old and being able to enjoy it with you (who has no problem with silly humor and finding the good in shows) was amazing And your perspective on stuff is always great too. It’s not until you watch this show that I even really thought about the fact that they’re just kids, y’know? I love your reactions because you’re never looking to tear something down, but you’re still just so damn genuine when you really love something, and that makes me love it all the more. Silly Stuff that would’ve made kid me turn my nose up (“that’s not funny I’m super mature and smart”) I can just laugh at 10 years later because yknow what it actually is pretty funny. Yeah, this ending was definitely something. The choreography was intense. My favorite was how the firelord could just use firebending from both his legs to jump in the air while simultaneously shooting lighting and fire from his arms. That was some intense shit. The only part that people really don't like was how Aang suddenly got this magic ability, from a random turtle, to take away bending. That felt like a cheap third option to make Aang not kill Ozai. It was also probably done to appease Nickelodian censorship. Anyway, idk if you are going to go into the legend of korra after this, but you should know that it's VERY different. Many people don't like it. Personally, I really hate the characters and story. I'm especially not a fan of the main character. I don't think its a good sequel to the original series. So, just be prepared for something different.

The Guru told us, the earth chakra is located in the base of the spine, where Aang was hit with lightning which locked the chakra. The earth chakra deals with survival and is blocked by fear. When aang was hit by the rock, the pain unlocked the chakra because of his need to survive, so he overcame his fears of the fire lord and opened the chakra, allowing him to enter the avatar state. The detail and consistency of this show is amongst the best.
