LOOKS LIKE YUSUKE’S REALLY HEADED TO DEMON WORLD! - Yu Yu Hakusho #97

Well, it seems as if Yusuke plans on making the Demon World trip! Of course, Kurama and Hiei may be also making that journey, which could make things REALLY interesting!

LOOKS LIKE YUSUKE’S REALLY HEADED TO DEMON WORLD! - Yu Yu Hakusho #97

I agree with you 100%. Shes a nice girl and all but i feel shes boring, for example shes nowhere near as cool as katara from avatar. I feel like alot of older anime around the time this came out suffer from this tho. They are usually sitting on the sidelines always crying about about people fighting or leaving, they sometimes do bring up good pionts but its always obvious that the main character has to do it.

Guys, I don't have any hate for Keiko, I've just never been moved a lot by her character. I think she's been a great ally, friend and love interest for Yusuke, but I'm just not overwhelmed with her character. :-)

Remember Keiko has stuck with Yusuke through thick and thin and witnessed first hand his fight against Toguro. She's seen him die and come back a couple times now, and that's hard on anyone, let alone a teenage girl. Now Yusuke says he's going to Demon World and doesn't know how he's coming back. Keiko trying to distance herself from him at this point is trying to save herself the heartache of holding onto him and him not coming back.

I’m disappointed in how you view keiko but I understand everyone has an opinion.

I have to disagree with female spider legs that accepting the fact that people are considered food is not something a normal person can do. It's easy to think of humans as food to a lion, to a shark, to pigs. The only thing that really makes these demons different is that they're humanoid. Some to the extent that they blend right in. Humans are nothing but meat and Yusuke is right, he knows what it's like when hes eating meat and is being stared at by vegetarians. Meat is food and for these demons humans are their source of meat. I can kind of get behind you on Keiko not being that great of a female love interest but one thing I really enjoy is the realistic reactions you get from two young teenage kids who love each other and have been by each others side since they were little kids. The guy she cares about is going to fuck off to demon world unknown if he's ever going to come back and how else is someone supposed to handle that. Especially a teenage girl. And I enjoyed the fact that Yusuke didn't just say okay see you later, he felt the distance getting greater between them and went to her. He's still going to leave but trying to salvage what he can by putting as much as he can out there for her to see that he does care but he's gotta do what he's gotta do. If she stays single great, if not . . . he can't exactly blame her.

Agreed. The magic of keiko is that she cared about Yusuke when no one else did.

I agree. I really tend to dislike relationships in anime because the women are handled so weirdly. They are devotedly in love with the main character for little to no reason and if the main character were to ignore their feelings or fuck off somewhere for literally years they would be right where they were left just waiting for them for some reason. I don't know about you guys but that doesn't sound like a realistic relationship between 2 people. I appreciate that Keiko, despite having these feeling for Yusuke that we have known about since episode 1, said that if he was just going to disappear again and possibly not come back she would move on and that forced Yusuke to do something that shounen protagonists rarely do - express their damn feelings to their love interest.

I love the OST of this episode especially on the last escene

Oh, I also really liked your flabbergasted reaction to Yusuke proposing.

So fun fact, Justin Cook, Yusuke Urameshi's English voice actor has said in interviews that the marriage proposal scene was his favorite scene to act out. On another note, I actually really like the relationship between Yusuke and Keiko. I've seen a lot of anime and read a lot of manga, but we never really get this reciprocal love between people, especially in Shonen stories. In DBZ you have Goku and Chichi, and Chichi only ever seems to be treated as an accessory, you have vegeta and Bulma where Vegeta is a grump most of the time, even though he has come the closest to blatantly stating his love for his family, you have Krillin and 18 who, well you saw DBZA.... In Naruto, it always felt as if a lot of the relationships came from nowhere (I'm looking at you Sai and Ino), even Naruto and Hinata seems tacked on. Yeah we had Hinata crushing on Naruto since the beginning of the series, but, and maybe its a cultural thing, we never see them spend time together. If you watch Boruto, its almost like her character has changed. Needless to say, I like Yu Yu Hakusho's central love dynamic because it's been there from the first episode, it may have turned into a damsel in distress situation, but, in a stunning turn Yusuke actually admits his feelings. Yusuke's power is connected to his feelings if we recall the Dark Tournament arc, he's died twice, and he can tell Keiko he loves her. More on this later... if I remember it.

Yeah, the minute Mukuro mentioned wanting to plunge Demon World into chaos. I knew that Hiei was thinking "I'm totally in."whether it'll be as a solo act or a duet with Mukuro. Well we'll just have to keep watching to see.

Phillip Ribbink

I personally like Keiko a lot she's always had Yusukes back and while he does love her he has ignored her an awful lot and died on her twice granted he was saving the world but that's still a lot for a teenager to take in and she's just mad that he's leaving her again because she loves her yusuke so much she's like the people in those snickers commercials before they've eaten whenever he's not around

Daniel Gonzalez

Keiko is a millions times better than other female anime characters like Orihime Nami or Sakura who are given token "girl power" moments against side-character enemies but keep ending up in the same old "damsel in distress" situations.

ya keiko is definetly not one of my favorite female anime characters. apart from yuskes love life she doesnt contribute alot to the show

Keiko's one of my favorite anime heroines. I dunno, maybe I just prefer the classic romances, where the girl acts as the guy's inspiration to reach his potential and get stronger, and the guy acts as the girl's comfort and security. Keiko doesn't need huge tits, skimpy clothes, or superhuman powers. She's just an ordinary girl, that's important to Yusuke, and cares about him. That's what it makes it genuine to me.

GoldArthur

Yea, I have to concentrate on the king names here. My abysmal memory fumbles names a lot, and I want to be able to follow this in real time... Thanks, I'll try and commit that to memory. :-)

Spaz Boys Comedy

I like the stories in this arc alot !

Master Zed

So, just as a reminder, Yomi's the king who wants to eat all humans, so keep that in mind with the whole demon world"unification" thing he wants.

flameenforcer619

This arc is rushed. You’ll see as we go through it. Still a cool arc but definitely could’ve been much better imo.
