A little sidenote: perhabs you already recognize that arlongs laughter is a bit odd, that's because in one piece many characters laughs a specific way that resemble their species or devil fruit (Like Arlong is a shark-fishman and therefore laughs like "sharhahahah")

Well yea, he could have just killed everyone in the vicinity but instead chose just to kill one. That’s pretty reasonable given what he’s capable of.

To explain the "even though you have tattoos" Tattoos comment, in Japan, Tattoos are often associated with Yakuza, gangsters and delinquents. So, there's a cultural bias against them. Which isn't to say regular folks don't get tattoos, it's just frowned upon. You run into issues like many public baths and hot springs not allowing tourists (or locals) with tattoos for that reason.
