I dont know if anyone else said it or if youll even see this comment, this video being a month old, but that noise you are hearing in the background is the sound of Cicadas. Its overly used in anime due being a good way to convey to the watcher that its summer time. Cicadas are bugs that usually are only active in the summer time and they have a very distinctive cry, that noise you commented on, and they are over here in the States as well. If you listen during the summer youll hear them.

Keep in mind that one of the single most common ways that people die in accidents in real life is to slip and fall in the bathroom. Its not cheap, its realistic. You also need to keep in mind that the vast majority of humans in one piece actually fall in line with what would be considered normal in the real world. We simply don't notice it much as the main story is focused on the extraordinary exceptions to the world. Keep in mind the next time you see someone like Luffy or Whitebeard send hundreds of the common rank and file marines flying that the dudes catching air aren't actually exceptionally weak but are simply average. It is just the gulf between the average and the exceptional is crazy big in OP. Think about it. The average time for a health adult to complete the 100 meter dash is about twelve seconds and the absolute world record for the 100 meter dash is 9.58 seconds. That means the difference between the average joe and the fastest human being in history is only 2.42 and that is seen as an almost insurmountable difference. In OP though 80% of the human race is still taking those twelve seconds for the 100 meter dash while the exceptional athletes are literally moving at hyper sonic speeds. And it is not just a matter of hard work either.

still doesn't make sense in the one piece world though, we have people who can rip masts of giant boats with their bare hands and slice ships in half, also it's pretty scummy to spit on your child's dream and Swordsmanship isn't just raw strength, you don't just give up on a dream because of some obstacles in the way.

I know this is a bit late...... but, when I finished how far the dub got in One Piece and no other dubbed episodes came out yet, I tried a few episodes of the sub and just couldn't get into it, what with not being used to the subbed voice actors, but just watching a few episodes with you caused me to change my mind and give it another try, as I saw how much you were into it. Just wanted to say thanks for not only the laughs but also for helping me transition into the subbed of One Piece. ( over 500 episodes of watching just the Dubbed kinda got me hooked on the English VA's.

Honestly, I think the way she died was really cheap by the creator of this series when he normally does most things the right way. Slipped and died? Can't tell you how many times I've fallen down stairs or on ice outside. Even hit my head several times. I didn't die obviously. It's extremely hard to die from slipping wtf lol. Let alone when you're a flexible young girl. That just don't make any sense. Yes, humans are fragile but not rotten wood level fragility. Should of given her a meaningful death like idk how about protecting her village from some evil bandits while her dad and Zoro was away for something? She cuts down many of them but are eventually killed. Least this way it's believable and she goes out rocking. Not to mention that could set up a nice revenge thing for Zoro, that would actually be good unlike Sasuke's lol Just always thought this was weird and I like my idea much better.

Is it safe to say SJW's wouldn't like One Piece one bit? lol Too much common sense for them. Men typically have more aimbition and are the stronger sex physically. It makes no sense that she'd be the strongest in the world at swordsmanship for those two reasons alone. Being the strongest in some backwater village, like she was, don't mean squat. And I like her just keeping it real. And yeah.... sucks what happened, that was some sad shit.

She didn’t just fall down the stairs, I believe she had her blade with her as well meaning, it’s not the fall alone that killed her but likely killing herself with her blade when she fell.

Wow, I was totally blindsided when they said she died...

Kuina's death sometimes gets ridiculed because of it being a slip and fall accident but as Zoro's sensei said, humans are such fragile things. Real Story, in 2013, a young freshman at Indiana University died falling down some stairs and laid unresponsive for 6 hours before anyone called 911. The state of Indiana even has a lifeline law which allows underage hoosiers who have been drinking to call 911 without any fear of punishment to try and deter situations like this where someones life could be on the line but the young kids are too scared to call for help out of fear of getting arrested for underage drinking. And whenever I re-watch this episode with Kuina passing away it really gets to me because even though falling down stairs doesn't seem that serious, us humans as durable as we are, are also just as fragile. Really makes you cherish every moment that you're alive because it just takes landing the wrong way from a fall to end your life.

After rewatching zoros backstory for the upteenth time I have 3 ideas. Either lions dying by falling down stairs is odas worst explanation ever or; she committed suicide, she was taken away(maybe to wano) by that man her father was speaking to, or Her father sold her.

In the manga, her dead body was seen with the face covered by a cloth, but in the anime a proper funeral was seen being held during Zoro's flashback. Also Zoro flashback was shown in chapter 5, when Zoro was going to be killed by the marines, but it looks like the anime held off on Zoro flashback til now. I think Kuina dying was meant to show how fragile humans are and how easy it is to lose your life.

Zoro's backstory is cool and neat but i wouldn't say inspirational imo i personally prefer the skeletons one better as inspirational and heartbreaking one which i believe will make curtis cry (can't say name because of spoilers) and get ready curtis this is just one of the many backstorys this dam series has

To answer your question about the sound, it is intentional. In Japan cicadas are very common to hear in the countrysides in the summer so they like to include that sound affect to make it feel more authentic to what summer would be like. I've found that in more recent anime they don't really use that sound effect as often though.
