WELL, ZUKO’S GOT AANG!… JUST PERFECT! - Avatar #19

Zuko finally achieved his goal and he's captured Aang. And what's even worse is that Aang is crossed over into the spirit zone... My big question is, now that he has him, what does Zuko plan to do with him, considering he has no allies there outside of Uncle Iroh?

It's not even just his home, it's his honor too. I think to us this isn't as big of a deal but in a militaristic society like the fire nation where you are perfectly within your rights to duel someone to the death for disrespecting you honor is a huge thing. He's not only disowned, but being exiled and honorless is like losing who you are, you grew up as a proud prince of the fire nation but now you're not even worthy to step within their borders. It's not just his father he's answering to I think, it's his whole sense of self, he doesn't need his father to acknowledge his honor so much as he needs to prove he's not a coward, and he's still honorable. Idk that's just my interpretation from what I've seen so far.

I can hear the cries of fans already. As so do my tears run like blood from a fatal wound... I know you're ahead and everything, but the next episode still fills me with DREADFUL excitement. Can't wait to see your reaction boss-man!

"*Bursts out in laughter* that would impress me though" Curtis, it clearly did :-)

It's not really about Zuko impressing his father. It was said earlier that he was banished. Meaning that he can't even so much as think about going home until he has the avatar. Think of it this way: You were kicked out of your childhood home and told you can't go in ever again.. until you beat the hell out of some guy you barely know. I'd do the same thing, tbh.

"Honor, motherfucker, do you seek it?!"

And Season 1 was the shallowest puddle in the creak :D

In short, Katara is proactive in the story instead of just existing in the plot

Hes already seen it. He is something like 6-7 episodes ahead right now.

Yo I watched this show as a kid and loved it and here I am now watching it when I'm 23 years old and it's still good as hell. Never realized how mature this show was/is and how well they tell the story and transition between arcs and themes.

I love how this show handles Katara. She was put in a very similar role to Sakura from Naruto yet Avatar handles it so much better. She has talent, but not nearly as much as Aang and she didn't have the liberty of being trained from birth (or at all). At the beginning of the series she is very weak, but improvises and trains hard to the point where she is complimented despite only having learned from one scroll and making up the rest as she went along. And you don't wait 200 episodes for her to improve, you don't have the boys saving her at every point, You let her fight her own battles, and we get the payoff of her training for what had to have been only like a week at most (idk how fast fire nation ships are) for this excellent payoff where she's pretty clearly better at waterbending than Aang despite him picking it up faster than her at first. Not because of her secret hidden talent (though she definitely has potential) but because she also worked hard and trains with the discipline that Jong Jong knew was lacking in Aang. And all of that in a kid's show that predates the movement kinda era that we're in now. It's not only smartly written with it's plot and dialogue, but these themes that they explore are executed so perfectly. It's shows like this that kinda exposed a lot of people to the idea that an animated series could be written for more than just silly humor and 'moral of the day' plotlines.

"Where's he gonna go with him?" That's a good question. Keep that in mind. It comes up later.
