Anime episode names and intros are full of spoilers generally. But yeah, Genkai's death stings hard, especially with how close she and Yusuke became.

This is one of the episodes that you really start the art direction ramping up in the series. You mentioned how they can make the battles look so good, and they can with the animation technology they had at the time. When Genkai starts to fight the background adds to that intensity. It's kind of a strange thing, but if you want to see what makes the fight so intense, you have to spend time looking at how they added motion in the background.

Oof yeah anime titles there's another series where if an episode is named after a character it's a pretty much guarantee they are gonna die and this was one you definitely should've avoided if it helps in the future it usually plays the same music when the title comes up so you have a couple seconds maybe to look away or close your eyes when you hear that sound before the title flashes in well at least you suspected it and it didn't end up as a surprise

I think Naruto and Jiraiya is a little more developed (as a Jiraiya fan I might be biased) but Yusuke/Genkai is still very very powerful to rank so high with so little screentime. Plus mentor and student of differing genders; bonus points.

Yeah anime titles can be pretty stupid. I know a lot of reactors, like you, skip titles because of spoilers. I have no clue why that's a thing with anime that the production companies feel like they must spoil the episodes in the titles but unfortunately that isn't a trend that has gone away.

back in the day they liked to make titles as a summary of the episode, so they were spoilery most of the time.

I wouldn't have made the same decisions that Toguro made, but I understand the problems that led him to those decisions. Don't get me wrong. I don't think he's justified in any way, but I think I have the same pity that Genkai had.
