Well. This arc made my eyes water multiple times. Makes me scared and excited for what comes next.

This is a great episode to go back and watch the reaction to. Not only does Curtis really find his deeper love for One Piece, but I think this episode serves as a good example of how the littler stories and B-plots that take place throughout an arc and the entire story can culminate into such impacting moments. (I.E. The pinwheel and Bellemere's tangerine orchard becoming the basis for Nami's tattoo)

Im reading the manga alongside watching the anime with Curtis and I'm quite shocked how much stuff the anime adds. The whole scene where Nami talked to and was pushed out of the house by Bellemere wasn't in the manga.

Oda is a master storyteller. And this is just the beginning of the feels trip. Every character on the crew has a story or an emotional journey that will make you tear up. And that's what enders us to all of them and makes us really want to push for their success.

i've never really nailed down my favorite series. gurren lagann, one piece, yuyu hakusho, trigun, gundam wing, hunter x hunter, cowboy bebop, .hack, code geass.... theres a large list of shows and probably some i can't remember off the top of my head and they all had a surprising amount of influence of shaping my tastes and who i am. grew up on those shows, and some even stuck with me despite already being an adult when i got to them. if i was forced to try to pick out a favorite from among them i'd probably just stroke out :|

To be fair it’s like that with every big series but yes those types of discussions are so subjective it’s best not to even bother. One Piece will forever be my favorite just because of what it meant to my childhood but I’d rather people didn’t even say they exclusively liked the quality of the big series over one another. It just leads to unnecessary disputes(cancer) and we’re all here did just fine new series enjoy them and watch Curtis anyway.

Uh oh. Doesn’t look like the HxH crowd liked that statement lmao. Don’t worry, at the start here it just comes down to the main characters. Gin is a kid with cool powers at the start but Luffy is an eternal kid at heart whose only out for a good fight, a good time, and a big meal. At this point I don’t think anyone could really be that surprised besides Curtis himself. I mean Luffy is basically what you would expect a 17 year old, rubber Curtis to be. Soo......

Good. I'm glad you love One Piece this much, it just goes to show how much a good story can appeal to different people. One Piece is very good and deserves to be called a favorite. HxH, FMA, Naruto, etc are all favorites for different people. The fact that One Piece is connecting with you means you have a lot to look forward to. 837+ episodes to be exact.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you don't like One Piece at this point then just stop because even though it will keep getting better, Nami's arc just really sets a perfect foundation for what the series is all about. So, I just can't see someone liking One Piece later if they don't like it at this point.

So One Piece became your great fav. Was somehow foreseeable, considering your personality! :D One Piece was my first anime ever and only years later I realized that One Piece is far from perfect. I've been following the One Piece Anime for 5 years now, but it's not even in the Top 10 or Top 20 anymore. Everybody I know who started One Piece, was in your opinion. But many have changed their mind drastically years later. For me, there are only 4 anime, which I regard as a real masterpiece and I differentiate here between anime / manga / Light Novels / And stories in general Top 4 Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Steins; Gate, Hunter x Hunter and Monster. Of course you set yourself different criteria to love a series. For me, the most important thing is the story, characters, music and pacing. I'm not saying that One Piece has a bad story, bad characters or even a bad music. Absolutely no way. All these points are incredibly good. I always see animes as a whole ...... and well. First, One Piece is still not over ( :D ) and second, with almost 900 episodes, it's no wonder that something goes wrong. The last 100 episodes are in my opinion just horrible. Everyone who Looks that knows what I mean. The manga, however, is for me a masterpiece, this is what our sensei Oda makes itself. ^^ I love the first 500 episode very much, but then you notice just the flaws that arise. But talking about it so early is stupid, because by that time, everything is really really good. It was also because the anime was very far away from the current manga range. What I still want to say, One Piece is no longer a simple story for me, more a great journey that only a few authors can offer us. I'm glad you had the same feelings I had the first time I watched One Piece. But much will be realized later. ^^ Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next 50 Reactions !!: D But I'll still choose the break, just because I think there are better animes out there. Not that one piece in itself is bad, but the anime! :) As I said before in some comments, it will not matter, the majority will want to look it anyway! :D Many may wonder why I write such a long comment. The answer is simple, I have no interest in discussing why I do not consider the anime as my favorite. I am sure that here are very decent people, but the One Piece fanbase is just cancer when you look at this Topic!! :(

I never bothered thinking about my favourite series, it feels like a massive insult to put one show above another. It's a lot more satisfying to simply never rank them and view them all as different experiences.

This was stunning– Gen is pure class. Only 44 episodes in and I think that One Piece has the best story-telling of any piece of entertainment I've ever seen.

I love One Piece! It's been my favorite Anime/Manga for 15 years!

Other shows have better individual stories but it's hard to beat one pieces world building. Both in its indirect way of showing it to you and just the sheer scope it can get away with in its massive size.

Well One piece is great without a doubt and I think it will always be my favorite show even if i think there are alot of other show that has better pace, animation etc I have never watched a show that I simply got so much enjoyment out of. Some arcs are better then others and sometimes it can be a little slow but all in all i would say that it doesn´t fall off.

Gen was such a cool character. I didn’t realize the first time I watched this but now I can really see the impact he had. Now the greatest mystery in one piece has been solved, the mystery of the pinwheel.
