The pacing is perfect. It's just that AtLA has lots of stand-alone plots within the main story.

Master Gamataifu

well if you had watched all those years ago we wouldn't be able to watch it together

AceOfSerberit

Same lol :D I actually played the game few months ago and never really went about watching the series. Guess I will do the same I did with Valkyria Chronicles :D finishing the game then checking the anime. Btw can definitely recommend The Valkyria Chronicles to you Curtis as a possibility for the future. It is actually pretty decent. No boobies though :D

Ak4sh4

It's slower paced than Anime but the story picks up gradually while still retaining it's fun elements. It's a fun ride the whole way through and you'll really enjoy exploring more about each character, no doubt. It focuses on less characters unlike an anime so you won't feel like there are characters being squandered or sidelined.

The_Chaotic_Killer316

I’ve watched these 2 episodes and already I want to binge watch the entire series again.

Gabriel Phipps

well its not really "plotarmor" since This is kinda spoilery curtis so you might better not read further Since if he dies in the avatar state he breaks the reincarnation cycle. Sure he gets stronger by a lot but also becomes vulnerable

Yuion

So basically, when Aang is in danger, plot armor.... I mean his Avatar powers kick in and he starts bending everything instinctively

Akettaja The Finnish Moron

The Gimpster 101

Its ok Curtis we’ve all tried to bend before, who knows, you may be the avatar.

Gigamac24

The show was balanced until the avatar vanished...

You can see real life equivalents in all the four nations. Air Nomads (Tibetan Monk), Fire Nation (Mix of China and Japan) Earth Kingdom (China) and Water Tribe (Inuit/Native American). Just something that makes me love this series even more.

Miasimon

That’s very interesting!

Spaz Boys Comedy

I was just about to explain that to our demented old bastard but I'll let you have that honor/task/burden (however you wanna take it) since you mentioned it first.

Rufio! Rufio! Rufio!

Middleman850

Oh, also Curtis, airbending is more about evading and trickery, through spins and side-steps. It doesn't focus too heavily on offense. Actually, each bending style is based on a different form of real world martial arts. I can tell you more about it, if you're interested (don't worry, it's fourth wall stuff - no spoilers)

GoldArthur

One thing the series does remarkably well is balance. The series can show edge and get very dark at times, but it never loses sight of the humor and hope it's built on. It's much more mature than you would expect, and yet it never takes itself too seriously. Hope you enjoy the ride, Curtis.

Kyle Bryant

In regards to the writing; Season 1 is a lot of the writers testing what Nickolodean would let them get away within the bounds of the story. Season 2 is them taking those limits and crafting the story perfectly around them, and, finally, Season 3 is them using their existing seniority to break those limits in favor of a satisfying ending. Many producers at Nickelodeon thought the third Season was too dark, but the show had too high of a demand for them to stop the writers.

GoldArthur

"doesn't have that harsh edge".... Honestly there's a couple things about this show similar to One Piece.... On the surface it's all happy and goofy, but then you dig deeper
