Avatar is, for a western story, very mature and philosophical. Especially S2 and S3 are stellar in characterization, world building story telling. Some of my favourite characters of all time in all media come from avatar so I hope you will enjoy it

Those informative bubbles were not on the version I watched so, I don't think they are original. They are more annoying than beneficial. Anyway good reaction, I think you will enjoy this series

The first episode is a little weak because it was written as 2-part pilot, and the second part is the better one. If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend sticking with it a little longer. It only gets better as it goes.

yee boy this show is so cool. and it's a good example of MANY western made shows that were influenced HEAVILY by anime. The director had the animation crew watch episodes of FLCL before working on this to capture the animation style.

This is definitely a great show. A co-worker of mine got me into it a couple years ago. The seasons on the DVD releases are called books so he lend me book 1 and after watching it, I returned it to him and ordered books 1-3 on Amazon. I wonder how odd it would be for a kid to see a man in his mid 20's and another man in his mid 30's get all nerdy over a nickelodeon cartoon.

Avatar is very much inspired by different Asian cultures. Sokka and Katara's tribe is sort of based off of the Inuit-like cultures throughout the Arctic. Also, their style of bending of elements is based off of real world martial arts forms. You'll also notice everything is in poorly written Chinese.

No their are two versions on amazon. This version was aired on tv and thus is SD. The other version is the better looking one without bubbles.

Those bubbles were painful... Distracting from the show itself with random trivia and personal interpretations of things is bad enough, but there were actually spoilers in those! "This foreshadows the time when character x will kill character y in episode 87 hahhha!"... Yeah, not the best thing. Things that wont be revealed in the show is one thing, but a lot of those were just things that will be reveaked or happen, LATER. Is this actually what Amazon prime has as their only option for watching Avatar? Cause that would be a problem Happy they didnt spoil anything major though^^

just going to state out right, this was my childhood lol, Avatar is a great series no matter what others say, you'll probably grow to like Sokka, Iroh and someone else who you won't meet till season 2
