That's just what you get when you trim the extraneous trailing 'o' sound from "Topo," which comes from the word "pot" ("po-to" in Japanese syllabics) being rearranged. It just so happens that the re-English-ized end result, "Top," is also a word of its own. "Pot" (English word) -> "po-to" -> "to-po" -> "Top."  It would be no different if Dyspo became Dispo or Jiren to Geran. Especially latter as it is anagram of the Katakana for Renji (Stove) and American viewers wouldn't necessarily get the reference. With Geran, it would be an anagram of Range; a type of stove with multiple cooking surfaces.

So basically the reason they wait to use powerups is so they can conserve energy, they are basically trying to use the minimum strength necessary to defeat their opponents. Also because if they were to fight all out from the beginning there's the threat of a unknown power to contend with and by the time they would figure it out they'd have already exhausted their energy.

Hey Curtis, very soon you will catch up on the dub and won't be able to watch episodes on a daily basis, will you be switching to sub for the rest of the series or switch to waiting a week between episodes to finish the series of dubbed? Personally I wouldn't mind waiting week to week to see your reactions to the dub but I'm sure others would rather getting a sub episode every day.
