KINDA LOOKING LIKE GURREN LAGAAN IS DONE THANKS TO FOREHEAD BOY! - GL #19

I was unsure how to feel about Forehead Boy's subversive plans at first, but now I'm pretty confident in hating him! :-D

KINDA LOOKING LIKE GURREN LAGAAN IS DONE THANKS TO FOREHEAD BOY! - GL #19

When he talked about Simone escaping instead of fighting the enemy I really almost turned this off and called it a day and maybe never returning. It's like, do you even know the person you're talking to. You know, the guy that saved the Planet in front of your eyes only 7 years ago... I mean how does the guy forget all of that? And why is the writer making me hate a character I genuinely liked only a couple of episodes prior. It's just a lot to take...

This episode has made me so angry. I guess that's a good thing ultimately but I went from not liking Rossiu but understanding him to passionately hating him and his supporters. From disrespecting Kamina's memory to happily risking the life of a woman who is basically brainwashed into his way of thinking and doing so while acting like the biggest jerkoff ever. This episode sucked all of the energy out of me and made me not that excited to keep going with this series. I'd probably just get hate for this but I can't help the way the episode made me feel.

This is nearly half the reason I just started to Support you guys. Not only 'cause I love ya, but because you are reacting to MY FAVORITE ANIME EVER!!! It was my first and made me an instant Anime Fan. So thank you

Spiral Technology allowed us to reach the surface and attain the quality of life that we now have which is a good thing. But Spiral Technology also awoke the Anti-Spirals who are now going to destroy us by having the Moon crash into the Earth. It's classic Catch 22. Also it's gonna be cool to see Simon and Viral in prison together.

Not that bad yet, but there’s some definite obnoxious similarities! 😄

U can really only argue whether prioritising the current system but its a slippery slope either way. One of them said in the episode that Rossiu is not thinking about long term but he is in his own way. One who has an overreliance on an individual leads everything to fall apart just look what happened to the team when Kamina died, in any case Rossiu is laying foundations for when he is gone. Haha but on the other hand they don't really have time to think long term imo which is why its a slippery slope

This is actually a fairly common idea in mecha anime (but not limited to them). There's a divide between the soldier, who fights for victory, and the government, who maintains the peace. The mechas, as towering weapons of war, serve as surrogates for the soldiers, in a way. I wouldn't really consider it a mecha series, but Metal Gear Solid game series goes really deep into that.

Regarding Gurren Lagann, remember what Darry said in the last episode: it's a symbol of the retaking of Teppelin. Or, if you were to look at it another way, it's a symbol of rule by force of arms. The same is true of the Gunmen, which is why they were sent to be scrapped, also. Grapearl, by comparison, with their uniform features and squad training, represent the new government they established over the past 7 years. Either way, the government is trying to represent the people (perhaps more than it should), and the people aren't looking at what they didn't have before Team Dai Gurren rose up. They're looking at what they stand to lose as a consequence of Team Dai Gurren doing what they want.

The only people I think have a “valid” reason to be mad would be the people that never left the underground bc now they will die regardless instead of living however you can live underground with a possibly of an earthquake killing them

In Japan the "up yours " gesture is a sign of solidarity. Funny how small changes like that can effect the meaning of the story.
