Sadly both unintentionally triggered the death of both these characters, due to seeing the Yoko/Kamina Kiss Simon isn’t able to give the battle ahead his all and Kamina hast to leave the safety of his Gunman and knock some confidence into him. Once he returned to his mech he was wide open for a lethal blow which kills him.-

I’ve noted a few similarities between Simon and Gohan, both have a serious lack of confidence who need big moral support from special people in their lives whom are part of their family. (Them being Kamina and Goku) These two people give them confidence when they need it most. Kamina is there to raise Simon’s spirits when he feels his confidence waning and Goku has a great amount of faith in Gohan and will support him no matter what.-

This is exactly what I needed to see after that banna fish ending

Guame clearly explains that the village they were just in sends up girls to be concubines for the Spiral King, which is what the girls around him act like.
