Im sure people might have told you already, but skip openings and titles. From the Arlong Park arc onwards, the episode titles that appear can contain major spoilers for what happens in the episode, so avoid them as much as possible, Just look away when you hear the little jingle that highlights the episode titles appearance. Also, skip the openings. From openings 3 onwards, they contain major spoilers for the arc and should not be watched. You can go back and watch them later, or listen to the music and avoid the visuals, but if you care about spoilers (which you definitely dont want to find out for a show like One Piece) then try to skip them. Openings 1-7 are 1:30m and Openings 8-21 are 2:30m

What's crazy is that by the time Curtis catches up, One Piece might even be in it's final arc! The hype will be so real!!

By my calculations, assuming 6 episodes a week (since Sundays are off) 50 weeks a year (accounting for vacation/random stuff happening), we're looking at 300 episodes a year, which, taking in to account that the series is still ongoing, will be 3+ YEARS before he's caught up.

he watched Naruto which is 200 episodes and Naruto shippuden which is like 500 episodes and that didnt take all that long either once Curtis Catches up itll be a matter of watching one episode every time it comes out in real time

I love the japanese voice for Luffy, but it's weird watching this right after DBS since Luffy and Krillin have the same voice actor Also this is really nostalgic. I watched this in middle school, and marathoned the manga in high school to catch up. It's gonna be fun to go through this again

You're gonna have a lot of fun with this, Curtis. There are times where there's a lot of filler though, so skipping that would serve to both make the series more manageable (there are 800+ episodes currently and it's still airing) and make it so you only have to see the good stuff. This site has an easy quick-reference filler list on it. Here's the page for One Piece. Well Curtis at this point in the series it hasn’t been established that Blades and Swords are a big weakness against a Rubber person so that was one of the rare cases of Luffy taking a sword and not being cut.

you should watch the 2 hour specials. there is one that covers episodes 1-61. they do a good job.

It isn't really that impressive, what they do is to add a ton of filler in the episodes, making things far longer than they need to. And on the other hand, one of the best arcs in the series is a filler arc.

You just have to love how honest luffy is with others and himself, it is just such a cool character trait and it is one of the things that makes him different from other protagonists. That is pretty much all he has done in the first episode, shown how he is not your average anime protagonist.

I've never seen One Piece before, but I'm along for the journey with you! Luffy reminds me of a young Goku with his powers, nonchalant attitude, and love for food!

768 canon episodes, wow. Rather impressed that One Piece never truly goes into filler hell. Like certain other series. So at 6 episodes a week, that is...nearly 130 weeks to finish total. Going to be one hell of a ride though.
