ANDROID 17 vs A GOD OF DESTRUCTION… THIS IS GONNA BE TOUGH! - DBS #125
Added 2019-02-27 15:15:25 +0000 UTC
No matter what happens here, Android 17 has achieved Legend status because of this tournament! I'm not feeling confident that he has anything for Toppo at this point, but I'm anxious to see him battle on!

He did specifically say that he doesnt hate him though.

You said the only thing you didn't like about Toppo was the whole justice thing. Now that he's abandoned that, you hate him even more? XD I for one enjoyed seeing Freiza getting his arrogant ass kicked

You know, it’s kinda funny to think about, but the same emotions you’ve expressed towards Jiren and Toppo—“Come on, is there anything that can stop these guys? Any other surprises you’re waiting to pull out?—most of the other universes have been feeling that way about the Universe 7 crew this whole time, especially with the Saiyans and the twins with infinite energy.

Everyone saying UI is more out of nowhere then GoD Toppo clearly forgot that Whis was training Goku and Vegeta for it just like Toppo was being trained as a GoD. NEITHER is out of nowhere!

I didnt realize this in my first watch of super but that no killing rule really helps universe 7 and hinders universe 11 cause I think if Jiren could kill it be game over

Toppo having GOD powers is equivilent to goku and vegita havin god ki and ssj blue, they are literally gods just not of destruction, in fact kami and now dende are both technically the god of earth origionally, god is a stupidly loose title in dragon ball now lol

Actually high stakes are good (depending on the situation of course) but what Z did wrong is as the series progressed the characters got stronger forcing the stakes to be raised as more powerful villains appeared. There getting them a second set of more useful Dragon Balls. The first set they actually added rules making them harder to abuse but such limitations weren’t used for the Namekian Dragon Balls.

Apparently Freeza forgot what happened when he killed Krillin.

Ultra Instinct is more of a asspull since Toppo at least trained to use his powers unlike Goku.

The thing to be worried about is not that toppo has God of destruction power it's still jiren as he is beyond God of destruction so having beerus wouldn't help we'd need a level above that like our flamboyant Angel Whis
2019-02-27 16:36:12 +0000 UTC
Yeah I know what you mean abou disliking Toppo more now that apparently he had this power all along, but it's important that's it's heavily implied Toppo has done had specialised training (as a god candidate) to control destruction energy like this, so at least it's something he has definitely earned and earned the right to use. More than I can say for Ultra Instict, as Goku didn't even know what the hell it was after he achieved it, it was an ass pull even to Goku :P and it's infinitely better than universe 6 saiyans being able to get 100x stronger than they knew was ever possible because someone told them to make their back tingle, lol! :)

When he made that comment about allowing a candidate for God of Destruction to fight I was about to say,”Did he forget about Goku and his godly power?” lol I agree though

The funny thing is that it was actually known that Toppo was a candidate for the God of Destruction position since the very beginning because it was a part of his bio on the anime's website when he was first introduced. It just never really came into play until this point. Also, I see no problem with a *candidate* God of Destruction being allowed to participate. It's pretty much the same as allowing Goku and Vegeta, who have been taught to use God ki by Whis, to participate. Until he becomes an actual God, he's still a mortal, just one that's been trained by their God of Destruction and possibly their Angel too.
While I rooted against Jiren, personally, I actually found myself on Toppo's side a lot, especially when 17 and Frieza tag teamed him. I was really happy when he got to put on a good showing and just absolutely demolish Frieza. Also, scold Toppo all you want for giving up his ideals, but I don't think his choice was necessarily wrong. As a God of Destruction, your actions aren't always going to be just for everyone, and in a tournament like this, I really don't think you should be holding back and risking countless lives just because of your own personal honor or ideals.

I think it is worth mentioning the biggest failing of dragon ball since and including z. The stakes have been way too high. High stakes makes the ending of the arc too predictable. That is what a lot of Shokugeki no Soma did so well and especially what the old dragon ball world martial arts tournaments did so well. If you keep the stakes low it means we aren't sure whether the main character will win, while any time a loss will kill off the mc or remove him from the focus of the series, the mc will almost certainly win. Though i will say that when a bad guy is allowed to win in a high stakes situation then it usually is a high point in the series.

Everyone has said it before. If U11 actually did their jobs right at the beginning of the tournament, this arc would have been over at like episode 100. But, they waited this long before going all Video Game Boss mode on everyone and thus....well you'll see how that plays out...
