you may enjoy Log Horizon if you haven't seen it yet. It's not as action oriented. But the world itself has a lot of character to it and a major plot point is trying to build some level of diplomacy with the non-player factions of the world. I adore both shows, but I don't think our man Curtis would like Log Horizon due to the slower pace.

Some shows are made to where the main character is always on top and is supposed to be OP. In these shows it isn't a problem that they can't find a real challenge cause that's the spectacle and if a challenger does show up rivaling his abilities they better be the final boss. In my personal opinion that works for Heroes more than Villains example being One Punch Man. I was enjoying Overlord up until it became clear that i wasn't gonna be able to root for the main characters anymore, from saving a village to (and this is a SPOILER in case Curtis is watching so watch out) killing his former ally Knight Champion. I suppose as contented to watch Overlord i began to fall for the world Ainz found himself instead of Ainz himself and so sadly i dropped the series and i seriously was worrying i'd get flak for dropping the series like i have.

Yea, its around this time that the casual viewer starts to realize Ainz isn't a Hero Protagonist he's actually a Villain Protagonist like Light Yagamy from Death Note.

It wouldn't be as bad if the entirely of Nazarick weren't so ungodly powerful compared to the rest of the world they inhabit. Literally no one can stand up to them, even the maids and butlers can casually take out a large city by themselves. That really is one major fault of Overlord.

As Stalin said: "A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic." We never actually got to know any of the 100,000 that Nazarick killed in Season 2. We did at least get a glimpse here.

and thanks to this episode and turning of events i stopped watching Overlord completely

I stopped watching after this episode to be honest. It's not only that Nazarick crossed the line into truly being bad guys with their actions, but also the fact that the Great Tomb apparently contains the equivalent of 40+ One Punch Men within. Everything is a joke fight compared to their power. The only one that actually struggled at all in their fight was Entoma last season with Evileye.

They took the risk and they paid for it, but i wouldn't put any fault with them. They had no knowledge they were actually stealing from someone for one, and for another they had a job to do. The request they all took on was to explore the tomb, sure they might've gotten enough money for all of them in the first 10 minutes, but the job they signed up for wasn't done, hence they needed to continue.

i kinda understand ainz in this situation if you think about it from his perspective. he went as momon to ask why they were there, they said money he then asked if it was enough money to die for and they said yes, that to me would have been enough to say they kinda asked for it. but he also placed gold outside of the tomb which they could have taken and left in my eyes this was a way to deter people who needed money cuz some people take jobs not because they want to be rich but simply because they need money to survive. but everyone went on in and thats when it all was decided everyone who was greedy and wanted more money is now fair play in ainze eyes. now we as an audience of course feel bad cuz this party wasn't that bad and one of them were just there to get money to live on her own with here sisters but ainz dont know that. so in my eyes he is totally in the gray area when he does this.

I thought there was an after credits scene on this episode, it was either this one or the next one.

Yeah they extra fucked up when they invoked the memories of ains guildmates. Also idk if you caught it but the reason ainz knew for sure they were lying is because ainz ooal gown is really the name of their guild. His guild mates would have called him momonga. Because momonga changed his name to ainz ooan goal early in the series in order to lure over anyone who was previously in the guild in case they were out there in this new world with him. So once he heard them say "Give ainz ooan gown our regards" he knew he was full of shit. Ainz only cares about 2 things preserving their guild base/npcs, and his lost friends. And they violated BOTH.

No laughing for this one. I'm honestly surprised and glad you don't hate ains because of this episode Curtis. But I don't think ainz is a villain I really really don't because he still cares for his npcs and spared the lizard men. I just blame his actions on him being an undead and not feeling anything because of it and the green light. Basically the green light is slowly killing of his emotions which in turn is killing his humanity. Basically his human persona and his ainz persona are fusing together. But I digress it was better thus way it really was because as ainz said "death in nazarick is a mercy" and he's right. You already know from reading the previous comments what would have happened to arche (blonde girl) if she would have survived, so this was truly mercy from ainz imo. On a brighter term this fight was literally so unfair that I laughed so hard because of how unfair it was. Welp rip arche you were a big sister.

For me I think this is the episode where Ainz finally crossed into villain territory. (Which is odd considering that up to this point, he's murdered, massacred Lizardmen, tortured and kidnapped thousands of innocent civilians). But this is the first episode where it finally hit home. For me it's the episode where he stopped being human and finally became the monster that he appears to be.

Speaking of the Light Novels, since you probably don't have time to read them i highly recommend reacting to some of the Overlord content by Aninews on YouTube. They go into stuff from the LN and are pretty entertaining

Just so you know, they were talking about Arche at the end there when mentioning what they did with the body parts. I also believe that the shiny being that Hekkeran mentioned was making Ains think of Touch Me, not Cocytus. That's why he knew they were lying when he said "give my regards to Ains." If it were actually Touch Me, he would have said Momonga. That last part is a bit of my own speculation so if anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, that'd be much appreciated.

SO many people didn't understand basic storytelling when this came out Protagonist DOES NOT = hero, good guy, ect. Protagonist means MAIN CHARACTER and that is all it means.

I said this yesterday and ended up spoiling things from this episode; Most of the groups had it coming and I don't mourn over them, the one group that faced Ainz in arena was the one I would have liked to survive especially the sister, but you can't always get the ending you want.

To Ainz by far the most important people to him are the other supreme ones. The NPCs from the guardians who act like them all the way down to the maids who were still made by them seem like children of his family. To protect them he would kill millions. As far as other lifeforms humans included they are like cows to him. We dont go out of our way to kill cows. Some people even have some cows that are pets or are useful to them in some way. However when it's time to feed the children we still put endless amounts of beef on the table.

Hey, they may be doing horrible things, but they are the people we really know. And the really complex emotions you have about this is why i was really waiting for this part. It is just an amazing pair of episodes and the ending of this episode only makes it better. I love how Mare, the sweetest, most docile being in Nazarick gets implicated in this really horrible shit. He fractured someones leg and dragged her by the hair to get eaten by cockroaches continually... i mean damn.

This was basically the real dark turning point for Ainz and the rest, this is where we're really shown these guys are in fact the villains of the story. Now as for the few things the anime didn't mention. First things first, the saddest and most brutal part would be that Arche's two little sisters, without her protection were eventually sold into slavery by their parents so they could maintain their noble status, and they both died of exhaustion only 2 days later. Whether they were sold for manual labor or as sex slaves like Tsuare was isn't clear but neither option is really good. This is their fate in the Light Novel however, the Web Novels story goes far less dark however. In it the sisters do not die and Arche instead of being killed becomes Shalltears sex slave, she gets her own house in Nazarik and i think at one point even teaches Ainz how to dance. So yeah, far better fate in that one. Overall this episode properly shows us that Ainz has lost pretty much most of his former humanity, if you've noticed during the recent episodes his inner 'human' voice is heard less and less. This all sort of makes me wonder if the author eventually plans to have Ainz barely defeated by someone, since he is clearly building him to be...i don't want to say less likable but definitely less sympathetic towards. Plus it would be really fun to see someone give Nazarik a proper challenge eventually. Unfortunately such a thing has not yet happened

That's the webnovel which differs from the light novels. The LN has passed the WN and is the canon universe. In the LN we basically get an extended scene version of what's in the anime. You mostly get the useless arche feels against what must be a God to create that underground world but rebels against it anyway to faint when finally captured by shalltear before she "shows her to deaths embrace in her dreams"

Also in the novels Shalltear takes Arche's virginity and basically turns her into a sex slave, i think she had a better end in the anime.

According to the author of the light novels, Arche's sisters ended up being sold into slavery after this and died from exhaustion.
