To be fair, they do a lot of call backs in this arc. As you mentioned, Anilaza is Hirudegarn meets Hatchiyack meets Janemba, Kale is Broly, Kefla is basically Vegetto but a bit more annoying, Maji Kayo is similar to Buu as far as his amorphous body goes, Goku and Vegeta do Vegetto's Final Kamehameha, the two-part special is structured after Goku's fight with Frieza, Vegeta's punch against Jiren in the episode after this one mimics his punch against Semi-Perfect Cell, etc. The entire arc was littered with references to past parts of the franchise.

7:59 Back when this scene first aired there was an influx of Goku X #18 ships just because of this scene.

Now i've seen unoriginal villains from the DB movies however Anilaza (the big monster in this episode) takes the cake. Curtis, you might not know since im not sure how many of the DB movies you've watched so im not sure if you'd know but Anilaza completely rips abilities from several DB movie villains. His design is clearly comes from Hatchiyack as well as those rapid attacks he did, his warp punch is from Janemba, he grows giant wings much like Hirudegarn and much like movie three Broly and Hirudegarn all he says is Rawr. I don't usually dislike characters because of what they are based or inspired from but Anilaza is literally a pastry dish of all these movie villains with very little originality and for whatever reason it just pisses me off.

I have to say, I was probably the most impressed by Anilaza out of the fighters in this tournament. Jiren was pretty much written as the insurmountable wall from the very beginning, Goku has OP Saiyan genetics and honestly a super convenient power up, and Kelfa relied on outside help from their Supreme Kai's Potara Earrings to fuse, but the Universe 3 warriors, through their own intellect, developed a way to combine some pretty average warriors (compared to U7 at least) into a monster that could overpower the combined attacks of *five* roughly God-level fighters, with his energy reactor that is. For me, Anilaza was definitely the most pleasant surprise because I really wasn't expecting much from their universe. Also, I find it hilarious that Vegeta sees Goku power all the way up to Super Saiyan God and is just like "Nah, vanilla ass Super Saiyan is good enough."
