I really loved this series too its epic and one of my favourites the style the music and story fit me so much :) You would also love Great Teacher Onizuka too that has become one of my top anime series of all time after 2 episodes :) I hope one day you can watch it

(Would that make him the first Western fan of Hentai?) It's honestly not too much of a fictional stretch that he could've gotten his hands on such a painting. Given that the Dutch (Van Gogh was from the Netherlands) had a monopoly on trade with Japan during that country's two centuries of isolation. Also if you ever get a chance Curtis check out some Ukiyo-e paintings. They're mostly associated with erotic scenes (though they're rather low quality) but there's actually some rather interesting paintings in that style.
