Whether or not you like it or think it's inconsistent with what's already been shown doesn't mean it's not a thing if they decide to make it a thing like they did in the manga. Besides, I already said in my reply to you that I (and no one else but the writers for that matter) am not sure that applies. I am more than aware that the anime and manga are very different. I was just offering it up as a possible explanation. Besides, Goku really doesn't seem to be *that* conservative with it since this is already his fifth time using the form in the first 13 minutes of the tournament. Seems like he's fine using it really quickly when he needs to so long as he doesn't stay in the form too long.

No matter how hard you “train” a form it’s consumption for that form won’t go down. The only example of this from the Z era is Goku’s Full Power Super Saiyan form but that worked cause he was able to maintain the form long before his fight with it so he didn’t expend Ki just by going into it. Casually switching forms costs a lot of Ki and no way you look at it makes any sense. Another thing Super’s manga and anime may share the same arcs but what happens in them is completely different so if Manga Vegeta does this doesn’t mean Anime Goku can do that.

During the Cell games arc of DBZ Goku and Gohan trained to have basic super saiyan form not consume energy. I don't think it would happen with later forms, but at least they should be able to learn control them better = less energy consumption. Also how I understood Goku switching between God and Blue is B. consumes more energy and short time switch is better than using it whole time.

In the manga, they explain that Vegeta, who was first shown doing it repeatedly, trained really hard in order to do it without losing energy. I'm not sure if that applies to the anime, though.

Fun fact: The switching between Super Saiyan God and Blue was actually something first introduced in the manga version of Dragon Ball Super. It was something Vegeta actually came up with to beat Goku Black. Goku even mentioned that Vegeta trained hard to do it and that it wasn't something he was capable of at the time, though Goku, no surprise, had his own trick up his sleeve.

Ok while i do like Super Saiyan God (one of my favorite transformations introduced into Super) They simply use it to switch out with Super Saiyan Blue which wouldn't be a problem... if merely transforming didn't cost a lot of Ki which it does. Its just like with Trunks going to his muscular Super Saiyan form and then switching to regular Super Saiyan is a bad idea because switching forms like that fucks your ki reserves. Seeing as Goku is a very smart fighter he wouldn't go with such a strategy unless he thinks it would be worth the risk however here they aren't even half way into the tournament and he's already using a strategy which costs a lot of valuable Ki.
