Curtis you remember when gon and killua where in heavens arena and fighting to go through hisoka's aura, being unable to move an inch without nen? this is kind of like that, except that pouf probably has the most evil aura similar to his personality, even worse than pitou i think, and Knov was using zetsu (no aura) since he was being a spy, while when gon/kil came into contact with pitou, there were protected by nen, hence gon and killua had it easier, and Knov broke down

hmm..., that's a really good point dude! I didn't even think of it like that but it makes sense. In hindsight, that's probably a big reason why that scene felt so heavy emotionally

I think what makes Knov's breakdown so impactful is that he seemed to be the one who had it all together. With his cool demeanour and his well put together wardrobe. To see that man reduced to a bare-footed shivering blubbering mess? It's an experience.

Dont think Morel could have done Knovs job and stay mentally healthy. Knov is underappreciated. Morel was tough infront of the lion but you cant compare the lion and the royal guards. Its like comparing Mr Satan and Goku.

Knov really shows how human the characters are in this show. Seeing just one of the royal guards aura made him realize they have virtually no chance of winning.

won't knock you for thinking that, but i disagree here. the enemies (and the protagonists) are extreme outliers here. the core group of protagonists are on a completely different level than most people. i think it shows just how intense the overall situation is and how truly formidable the enemies are, not that Knov is weak willed

There is a certain element about this arc that you may not enjoy. But it's very hard to ruin your enjoyment, so maybe not.

I know it's mainly because he was unprotected, but something you've gotta remember is that Pouf's aura is probably not worst in the series. Not in the sense that he's the strongest, just the most disgustingly evil. Getting hit by that is like being in presence of 100 Hisokas at once,

Curtis might be worth remembering episode 85 when Morel and Knov first get introduced and they sort of "mock" Killua when he says how vicious Pitou's aura was and they act like he just doesn't know what he's talking about , that was essentially a foreshadowing for this exact episode to see how much Knov gets affected by Pouf's aura

Yeah, so Knov does have a weak will compared to most everyone.

The way you've been talking about getting jazzed up for the fights with the royal guards it felt to me like you'd forgotten what level they were actually at but I thought this episode would remind you. Consider, defeating the royal guards have never been part of the plan. Making that part of the plan would make it a plan doomed to fail, they cant expect to beat them. Their missions is to seperate them from the king so the chairman can take the king down somehow. This is not a fair fight, by any and all means this is a suicide mission. If you recall Kites reaction to Pitou, KITE's was to think that its a monster and they should get the hell away from there. It then proceeded to kill Kite, sending the boys running for their life. And Pitou is a specialist. Meaning this feat was performed, when she wasnt even using her own category of nen. No special ability, just raw aura and natural physical abilities. Getting jazzed up is good! But dont forget the actual level of the threat they'll be facing. Pitou alone is "stronger than Netero". And that's what Gon and Killua will be facing

I feel that this scene is where knov gains true respect and admires gon and Killua's strength as one look at poufs aura broke him whereas they were slap bang in the middle of Pitous vicious aura and are still willing to fight/ can still be happy now such a vicous aura is out their.

I remember seeing Knov sneak in the castle the first time. No lie, but it gave me such anxiety. i thought for sure he was giong to die. Watching it again, i still got anxious haha😅.

Important to note: Remember when Wing was warning the boys about experiencing an aura without using Nen to protect yourself? Knov was using no Nen to protect himself when he came into contact with Pouf's (Pretty Wings) aura, and he's suffering the consequences. It's not that he's weak willed, but he had to go in there unshielded or he would have been detected.
