And Leol's ability is pretty much a lesser version of Chrollo's, instead of stealing someone's ability, he only borrows it temporarily

I'm pretty sure the king doesn't have any ones past memories, the king has only ever been himself and the same could be said for the royal guards. Right now the king doesn't seem to understand why he could be enjoying himself, when he keeps getting defeated over and over. To him losing would be the most humiliating thing, but for some reason he is actually enjoying himself. Also got to take into consideration that the blind girl is the first person that is capable of giving him a challenge.
