I know you finished this months ago, but in one of the earlier videos I saw that someone was saying "There are a lot of Jojo references so if you haven't seen it, you won't get a lot." There are Jojo references, but there's references to a lot of other things too. For example, when Sora is asking about the "sexy animal girl paradise" that's a symbolic reference to Neon Genesis Evangelion (a show I know nobody would be able to convince you to watch). That scene is in a lot of reference heavy anime, because it's based on the father with his hands folded, looking super serious and purely business oriented.

I can confirm to you that Shiro has 100% love feelings for Sora (said in LN) and that Soras preferred body type is "child like" (said in NGNL Desu). They also confirmed his feelings for her with magic but that was really complicated so read LN volume 5 for a decent explanation.

I get the feeling the incest jokes the anime made at the beginning may be preventing you slightly from seeing how much Sora actually cares for Shiro, i don't think the jokes ever went beyond just being jokes.
