Doesn't he realize that if he doesn't send the help required, there may not be a Hunter Association left for him to be made Chairman of? It's like a company that makes arms causing the escalation of a Nuclear War, so they can make money that they may never be able to spend because the whole planet will be an irradiated wasteland.
