Completely agree. Its definitely the biggest mistake of the 2011 version. I remember being confused why Gon was so fixated on saving a guy he just met. But their relationship was actually way deeper. He was like a real father figgure for Gon.

Hey curtis I wanted to comment this earlier but forget, but in the original anime and manga the scene where kite saves kid gon is the very first scene shown in the entire show, and it’s portrayed as being the reason gon wants to become a hunter so bad. One thing I think the 2011 anime messed up is not including that and properly showing how important of a character kite was and how much of a connection gon felt to him.

Gon made a mistake leaving Snake Bitch alive, he could've made a nice wallet out of him. Also there's the fact that the entire point of this mission is to exterminate Chimera Ants. Cowardly Lion is just following his nature. Contrary to what popular belief male lions are actually pretty cowardly and lazy. The females in the pride do most of the work gathering food and he just shows up in time for dinner. If he's trying something he'll probably spring his trap when someone else has done most of the work for him.

Id say the ants Gon are facing now are Officers, if you recall the bottom barrels werent even intelligent enough to use guns etc. So the grunts should be quite a bit weaker than these. Where did all the grunts go btw? Havent seen any for a long time... Are they all dead or something?
