Now that the series is done I can say this, but isn't it weird, that whole first scene? I mean, Simon is done after they return to earth to get married and everything and Boota (I haven't seen it spelled) is a little kid at the time. So... How does this scene happen? XD Either way, a fun starting scene and I'm looking forward to watching the reactions?

I'm pretty new to here but this may be one of my favorite reaction series so far. I thought NGNL was the perfect anime for you but I think you've really grown to really understand what you watch and this will be great. One of the reasons I love rewatching these with you is that I take even more away from it having "grown" from "anime experience" since the first watch. I love seeing you get more perceptive and enthusiastic about every new anime.

I think you're pronouncing it wrong, you have the first word correct. Guren, but Lugann = Log-Anne as in annie.

Someone had mentioned that to me, but to be honest, I had forgotten... You can certainly see the similarity in the quirkiness. :-)

This is an anime that holds a perpetual spot in my top 10. It runs on Rule of Cool, but has a fun and surprisingly deep story. Plus, if anyone accidentally drops a spoiler it'll sound like gibberish right now lol.

Also wanted to mention that you are in for a treat Curtis. Gurren Lagann really helped shape who I am today, as I really identified with Simon. This series is action packed and bombastic. But beneath all of this are themes that run deep and a lot of heart Like when Kamina hugs Simon to comfort him about the earthquake.

An interesting thing about the first episode of Gurren Lagann is that it follows Plato's analogy of the cave very well. The Analogy is that there is a society in a cave where they are strapped down facing a wall with a fire behind them casting shadows on the wall which to the cave people is reality because that's all they had ever known. Then one man leaves and reaches the surface. At first it is blinding but then he understands the true reality and returns to the cave to tell everyone but no one believes him and think he's a fool becase the shadows are all they ever new. I find that this analogy fits very well with Kamina and the Village.

Ah yes, the classic Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. A beautiful and surprisingly deep story about a boy becoming a man. Don't you dare watching this only for Yoko's titts.

Oh my God I am so happy you are finally watching my favorite show of all time please don't forget that episode 6 has an uncut version that is not on regular media you might have to find that somewhere else. Also episode 16 is 100% flashbacks you do not need to watch it and the final episode has an after credit scene
