A lot of harem anime run into the issue where they try to turn every guy aside from the protagonist either into a jerk or make them inconsequential. I like that they included a guy who actually appears admirable in this series. I think that is one of the many reasons why DxD is such a success. Because there are strong male supporting characters that have importance it's not just the girls and the protagonist.
