2018-09-30 20:10:47 +0000 UTCThe original sub of this episode was great, because while Ryuko was in the middle of her explosive exchange with Nui with the parts of the ship rising up around them, an earthquake alert had gone out at that exact moment lol

With the finale actually being delayed A bit because they had to finish animating it and basically as soon as they finished they aired it. This series was a very big one for Trigger (the animation studio) because they were an offshoot of the famous Gainax studio and needed to prove they could create an action packed hit on a tight schedule with less resources and money than Gainax would have provided. They also made the first Little Witch Academia OVA at the time but because that was kickstarted and Not released according to a schedule.
