We seem to have a pretty even breakdown here of people who prefer sub and those who prefer dub. Since - in most cases - it makes no difference to me, I try to keep it pretty even. :-)

Hey Curtis I was just wondering is their any reason your not watching the dub of this series. I've seen both the sub and the dub and am just curious because I think the dub honestly isn't to bad.

Someone mentioned earlier how Honnouji academy is like a fascist state. And funnily enough we see a prime example in Maiko this episode. She's the typical toady that would've fit right in with the inner circle of any fascist government you could name. Of course if an opportunity presented itself she'd seize power for herself. Then there's the whole "glory for Honnouji Academy" bit, which bares a scary resemblance to the Banzai/Kamikaze tactics of Japan during WW2. Of course this being a comedy she doesn't actually go through with it and we get a joke.

Fun fact for this episode. The animation style in this episode is different than all the other episodes in the series. This is a reference to Gurren Laganns infamous 4th episode which had its animation directed by a guest director. The fan reaction to the guest animators style was so bad one of the managers of the company resigned after saying the online comments were like “putting his face next to an anus and inhaling deeply.” Imaiashi (the overall director of Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagan) respected the guest animator and wanted to kind of poke fun at the whole “shitty looking 4th episode” even though the story in the episodes is really good.

Of course... For one thing, at the point we had the sub vs. dub discussion, I was already 5 episodes in. Also, nowhere during the discussion did I say I was just going to randomly switch from one to the other... Of course, it would have taken less time to click the play button and scroll ahead to find out than it took to type out the question. 😊
