First time I watched it I thought York new was better. But, while very long winded at times, the chimera ant arc is genius. The ant king is one of the best villains in anime.

Ging is an odd one, people would be right to be annoyed at the ways he treats his son. However I think Ging & Gon are incredibly similar and Ging somehow predicted that this would be the case. I get the suspicion that Ging has more or less laid out Gon's path in the ways that he himself would want to have been treated or trained when he was growing up. It often feels like Gon is an experiment to me, what that means or to what ends? I have no idea but it's something I've been considering for a long time watching HxH.

Yeah, when I first saw that one fight, I was like "What's with all the narration?". It made it kinda boring for me at first but I got into it eventually.

It entirely depends on how you're specifically defining intuition. If you're saying it's a function of the subconscious mind, putting together pieces of information previously culled to make a strong educated guess as to what's coming next, then yes, intuition is real. The manner to which I was referring is when people believe that they have the ability to predict the future, sans all prior experiences, utilizing some next level ability for knowing what is going to happen because they have a "gift" or some silly nonsense like that.

I think it's funny for Ging to say "It's common sense to..." when he didn't teach Gon shit, and Gon's ignorance is entirely Ging's fault.

So a good point to state at the start of this arc, this arc has a good amount of narration , which a decent amount of the fanbase hated , however I personally didn't mind the narration at all , I think judging from Curtis' general tastes, he won't mind the narration as it explains everything and leaves no rooms for doubts, but also gives a nice atmosphere

Very cool! Poignant for me, too, because a large part of the reason I'm so excited to watch One Piece is because of the awesome clips I saw of Shanks and Luffy.

It was no one’s fault but the show left out important details in the beginning. Looking at this episode Kite is to Gon what Shanks is to Luffy. He is the embodiment of what a hunter is. The very first episode was supposed to show this but the creator of hunter x hunter hadn’t fully finished writing this arc yet and the producer of the show weren’t sure if they were going to get this far in the story. That whole flashback was supposed to be in the first episode but was cut out. Which makes sense cause if they didn’t make it to this arc it would had been an unanswered question. IMO if they had put it in then that scene where they reconnect would be ten times better. Just some random info about the character.

Obviously they've changed it from the Manga. But I remember Kite being the one who told Gon about Ging being a Hunter and still being alive. In basically what was the first chapter of the Manga. While the later reveal doesn't really take much away, it is a little jarring knowing that.

It's weird because to me the Yorknew arc was more hype. For me this arc is so good more because of its incredible character development and complexity of storytelling and themes. It's the type of arc you could literally right an essay about just because of its sheer artistic value
