No hes not. Without the help of Kakashi he isnt able to touche the truth seeking orbs, and we have seen multiple times that someone who has them can surround themselves in them (Like Madara did against him but they were warped away by Kakashi). So he is weaker than Obito and Madara Spoiler for future episoded: He is also weaker than Kaguya and Naruto (They both have truth seeking orbs or other means to protect themselves). Probably weaker than Sasuke because he has major hax with his teleportation and Amaterasu and arguably weaker than Pain, but thats because Pain counters him really hard, if Guy has to activate the 8th gate against them he kills them all but Nagato would still be alive in the distance. Aaaand you have to concider Madara was toying with him. At any point in time Madara could have used Limbo to kill Guy or block his attacks, so yeah he is in the top 10, but we cant really estimate his strenght 100% because the only fight he was in his opponent didnt use any Jutsu and tried to beat Night guy with fucking tai Jutsu head on.

421 was both one of my favorite episodes and one of my most hated. Favorite because of how badass Might Guy was, and hated because of both the NaruJesus asspull at the end, and how learning Naruto was a reincarnation of one of the most powerful ninja ever. Goes against the entire narrative for Naruto's character through the entire series, especially Part 1.

GAI using the 8 gates is pretty much in the top 3 strongest characters, no kage, no shinobi no reanimated anyone could stop him at this point (not that he couldnt be stopped before) and the legendary beast known as Might Gai was the only motherfucker to nearly one shot Madara after he declares him the strongest.

While agree this was pure robbery in terms of actually fulfilling an awesome character arc-till-death, that was a perfect beginning to Naruto's end arc as a character. I forgive this ass pull because of the lore behind it (Hagoromo filler arc, the best filler/expanded-canon imho) truly embodies the philosophy behind the manga from start to finish. As a lover of Japanese philosophy, Ninshū was an excellent way to embody the duality between the Vengence that Sasuke embodies and Naruto's natural tendency to bond with others

When you think about it, Madara is the most powerful shinobi to have ever lived now. He was second only to Hashirama out of all the ninja in history and only be a slight margin. He was then more powerful after being revived due to the Senju cells. Then he became the sage of six paths as well making even stronger than that again. And yet still, after all of those power ups and being the most powerful ninja to have ever lived by far, Gai still nearly took him out in a single blow.
