Checkers' Pocket Striker (Rerelease)

Greetings adventurers!

A lonely inventor set about making a friend for himself that would last him through the bitter end. His pet rat Checkers was his greatest companion and the one that he could always count on to be right at his side. Now bound to this magical lighter, he can be your friend too.

A look back from Matthew:

I really loved working with Fluffy on this one. This was one of our earliest collabs and one that really sticks with me. I definitely want to do more work with Fluffy in the future. Their adorably creepy cute little critters just give me life. They're one of my favorite creators out there at the moment. 

The lighter itself was a complex thing to write in that it had to bring the Ember Rat to life, but we also wanted to give it some of its own properties so that it would be a fun standalone item as well. Striking (heh) that balance was a bit of a tough one, but it worked well in the end. 

Remaking this one has reminded me that I need to write more stuff with inventors in mind. There's so much to explore there.
