Arizona's Dead Mall Gold VHS coming soon

It will be a YouTube Premiere so I'll be in the chat to answer questions. I'll post more info about The YouTube premiere when I have a hard date for it. Arizona’s Dead Mall Gold is an hour-long three-part documentary on the decline of malls near Pierson’s home in the Phoenix: Fiesta Mall, Metrocenter Mall and Paradise Valley Mall. Utilizing the years of footage taken for his channel, Pierson sympathetically tells the story of these three Arizona retail institutions from 2017 to their demise in 2020 and 2021. Alongside the story of these dying malls, we also gain insight into the backstory of the Retail Archaeology channel and learn more about Pierson’s own journey from retro-game loving Dad to “YouTuber” with a six-figure subscriber count and hundreds of Patreon supporters.
The work of homegrown YouTube channels like Retail Archaeology has never been documented on an analog format like the VHS. Not only does the VHS format fit in with the channel’s theme of “dead” relics of the past, but the design of the VHS package is an homage to a well known home-grown documentarian from California public access TV: Huell Howser. Not only did Howser’s California’s Gold inspire the scripting of the documentary itself, but the iconic look of Huell Howser Productions’ VHS tapes was used for the case and artwork design.
