Changing my tracheostomy
Added 2023-11-28 04:19:22 +0000 UTCWe are supposed to do this every month, but with the chaos that ensued in November it was put off, and I had been noticing more of a struggle with my breathing and coughing. Thankfully today my caregiver was able to change it, it seems and is such an important routine, it only takes seconds to do, but within minutes if my tracheostomy hole is left open, it can close. So it's vital for me to have caregivers around me who are trained in this, even though the only one who knows how to change it is my daytime caregiver on the weekdays. I really should have registered nurses taking care of me, but I cannot afford it.
