Graphic picture: diaphragm pacer Open wound

Although the diaphragm pacer helps me to be able to breathe without the ventilator, it is technically an open wound and these tiny electrical wires are going into my body. Today, while changing and cleaning the pacer area, we were rather disturbed to find that one of the sites looks bruised and was bleeding a little. I can't feel very much pain in that area because I can hardly feel anything on my abdomen but when the area was touched my arms started flinching which I'm guessing was a reaction to pain. Tomorrow I have to call my respiratory therapist I also have to repair or ask how to repair or replace a very expensive cable that attaches from my pacer site to a battery pack. Somehow the cable has been damaged… with four different caregivers helping out sometimes things get thrown around or not treated the way they should. I try not to make a big deal about it but it really frustrates me that I can't take care of all of these things by myself the way they are supposed to be taken care of. Sometimes I wish I would just get my upper body strength back because I would literally do everything by myself. Not being independent and forced to rely on other people for everything is a living hell sometimes.

I'll try to make a post about it tomorrow… basically I got sick mostly a head cold and I've been in my emotions all day crying at the drop of a hat. I wish I wasn't paralyzed. It's so hard sometimes and sometimes I feel so alone. Anyway I called my respiratory therapist and had to leave a message, I'm going to try to contact another respiratory therapist from Craig hospital tomorrow because I need them to look at it ASAP. Cable is still damaged and my open wound doesn't look great

Just curious: How did it work out - were you able to fix the cable problem?
