I have this fear
And great elation
I am just the shimmering water bound
Fin of the untouchable orca
Underneath
The security where you sit, admiringly.
Noticing me with full adoration
Because in seconds of time
I will be gone, maybe forever, into the deep.
I enjoy this wild fascination,
For I am still a creature
More at home with the ocean in my ears
Then in your lake house with your lovers.
You never know that I swim so close on purpose
Just to feel one moment of your touch on the curve of my back. I could never be anything constant except erratic
My trust an animal instinct turning to panic
Maybe it's my fault I'm something your arms Will never capture.
Maybe it's my freedom.
I go by, and I catch your eye,
And I'm gone.
