Zelda TOTK Part 5!

Hey everyone!

Dredge is incoming too :)

Some of the YouTube comments got me considering playing the beginning of DS again on the PS5 or something hahaha, but its up! Thank you for the love on the video so far!

But I'm back! Tried to get this up for you yesterday morning but a massive portion of the video exported muted for some reason :( boy oh boy the joy I had when that happened. Anyway, pretty dialogue heavy this one! Think I went to these areas way too early buuuuut SPOILER AHEAD FOR THE NEXT VIDEO:

Gonna go to the dye shop, the lab, do the shrine in Hateno, then head straight towards the Rito Village quest, picking up the Dragon Tears quest on the way :) NO MORE DISTRACTIONS. ok. lol.

Bye!

Zelda TOTK Part 5!

Comments

I didn't feel this at all personally, guess it's a case of "different strokes for different folks" but I enjoyed the additional background noise of dialogue reading and it didn't feel too slow, I think Amber's voice carries the dialogue well but again I'm more of a "listen while working" viewer. I guess there's no winning either way really, reading the YouTube responses to Amber's pinned comment, it seems there are two different mindsets entirely when it comes to how people engage with these videos, but I tend to sway on the side of people who are saying that worrying about editing things to death too much may suck the joy out of recording it, and as some on there have said, it's easy to fast forward on YouTube if it really is moving too slow. I dunno, I think it's gonna be a hard balance to find 🤷

Andy

You're the best.

The Mighty Pipe

Ahhh thank you Taycen, I will try to find the right balance of it all moving forward

Sym

Its okay! Feedback is really important and I appreciate it! It's a chance to improve videos and editing and what not

Sym

The game does have a decent amount of this, especially compared to BotW, but this might be the densest area of it. I wouldn’t be too worried moving forward. But I actually enjoy the dialogue and your reactions to it because they’re full of fun story and worldbuilding details.

Taycen Timothy

Please, don't go doing all that on my account. Just a thought for future episodes. I'm sure plenty of people will disagree with me and would be happy if you left it how it was.

The Mighty Pipe

but thank you for the feedback! I'll see what I can dooo

Sym

hmm I could do a recut I guess, it'll just put me a bit behind with other videos, its difficult because the NPCs do tend to say the same thing in an area - I think so you don't miss the important information - but sometimes they add a small something new, like naming another character you need to talk to haha

Sym

I finally finished this episode and Amber, please don't take this the wrong way, but it felt like a bit of a slog. You mention this was a 'pretty dialogue heavy' episode, but that's a bit of an understatement. It's got nothing to do with you or your input and the dialogue isn't bad or anything, there was just a fuck ton of it that got too much and made this pretty difficult to get through IMO. I'm not averse to reading heavy games at all, but towards the end I was actively saying to the screen 'please not another NPC to talk to or diary to read'. If you're looking for things to cut for pacing and to keep the videos engaging, I think a lot of the non-pertinent dialogue and diaries is the place to start. I'm sorry, I can see your enjoying them, and I really don't want to appear rude or ungrateful, but I'm just sharing some honest feedback.

The Mighty Pipe

Odd how you had issues with the audio when exporting. That doesn't makes sense. However, glad it worked in the end. I love how you got your horse and still got distracted along the way haha. I didn't realize Walton could talk. That is one impressive dog! Also, congratulations on getting the Hylian Shield! What a great find for this episode! Another great adventure for an episode. Thanks for the video and look forward to the next one!

Jeff Gaston

Nice! I just made myself an unhealthy stack of pancakes with maple syrup to enjoy with the episode and I'm ready to dig in!

Trolez

Sorry to hear about upload woes, your editing is great so it must be frustrating to have the video mess up beyond your control. Looking forward to watching this episode and the next part of Dredge! As for Dark Souls: I was playing alongside you on the PS4 remaster and noticed my game was playing much smoother than the switch version, plus quicker load times make boss rushes less frustrating.

Flukemarm

I don't know what these issues with the Switch version of Dark Souls are, I mean, it makes sense it might chug and not look as nice as a PS or PC version, but it's a port of a pretty old game, so the differences aren't going to be astounding. Maybe there's a technical reason I'm not aware of. If you do decide to do a redo, please don't get rid of the first episode. I've watched it like two and a half times, I enjoyed it so much. Thank you for more Zelda and Dredge.

The Mighty Pipe

Ya-ha-ha!

Been waiting for more Zelda. I recently listened to its soundtrack, and it's soo good. It got me hyped for more Zelda content. I'm wondering if in previous videos it's just not there or is just quiet, because I only just noticed it in episode 4 and I loved it, especially the "reverse sounds" when you fought those gloomy hands. But I haven't watched episode 5 yet, so I don't know how it is there. Not sure, maybe it's just my imagination. Anyways, can't wait to watch this episode! I will also give your Dark Souls vid a watch soon. I haven't really been jumping to it yet, as I wasn't really interested in the Dark Souls games so far, but looking forward to watching that, too. Take care!

Veldaren

I haven't seen the comments but from personal experience there's a part of the game early on in Dark Souls that is well known to feel like the modern computer is grinding it's gears through mud and who knows how the switch will react, so the PS5 sounds like a great idea and I think it'd be fun to see how you tackle the beginning a second time around, not too late to restart! I don't think it's out of the ordinary to check out Kakariko and Hateno, the game has the same scaling system that BotW did so you won't see scarier variants of monsters until much later in the game. I do think the game tries to steer you towards Rito at the start though, and I feel it's definitely the best area to go to first, after a few detours haha. I'm fully caught up, been adoring the series so far. Might be my favourite on the channel, besides the couple of OoT videos (I may be bias), due to your energy and excitement about Zelda. Dragon Tears was one of my favourite parts of the game, and I'll definitely be sticking around to see how you react to all of them.
