Subnautica Part 6!

Finally I could export this video! I haven't even checked it for errors, don't have the heart to right now haha.

Subnautica Part 6!

Comments

Oh, two more episodes.. Worth my small pledge 😬

sundmark67

It's so much fun watching you play one of my all time favorite games ❤

Marquie Minx

One thing I would add, though, is to be careful when making additional minor bases, to NOT try to move your main base from the surface to, say, a cavern at -500m depth or something. I did it once, and I felt like a total genius then like "yeah, now I don't need to go back all the way up, ha-ha!", but it quickly ended-up being a real hassle near the end of the game! Additional bases should ONLY be places to rest-up, not to store things. ^^

Goblinounours

Really great episode! Love all the base building fun :) This has been such a delightful series to watch.

ChronoKnot

Ep. 5 “Keep Clam, Kitty On!” Ep. 6 “Don’t be jelly…shrooms” ;-)

Rogue Variable

Watching this episode I just realized Appsro had a second audio log in the PDA.

Rogue Variable

Ahaha, I have been thinking actually that I may ask you all for help on naming these episodes!

Sym

Another fun video. :) The title, "messy exploring," kind of makes me wonder what you think non-messy exploring would look like. :)

Tormuse

Great episode! I am loving this series and am glad you are enjoying this game so much! The way you play games is very satisfying to watch. :)

Jade Raven

agreed

Mr cateyes

I remember watching the neebs gaming series on subnautica and laughing so hard

Don't want to backseat, but would like to recommend just taking a little more time when exploring wrecks and old bases, since once you've explored a place and missed stuff, the game is unlikely to prod you to go back there (often if you miss something, you don't realise until you find that you can never seem to get, say, the last part of a fragment for a blueprint, and end up having to look it up, realising it was where you've been). Personally when I played, I liked to explore, pick up all I could in as many runs as it would take, and then do one final run where I find nothing—if I find something, it's not my last run, just to make sure I check again carefully. :) Tiny pointer for a path you missed: when exploring the Degasi habitat in the mushroom cave, there were ladders to an upper floor that you didn't explore. You even looked up one of them, so you definitely saw the ladders, but maybe you thought you couldn't swim up? Even if you're not interested in going back to find what you missed, there will be more ladders like that in future, so worth making a mental note of. Anyway, this is amongst the best playthroughs so far—you're attentive, curious, and focused, which are traits that make-or-break a good playthrough of this game IMO. Often see people play and completely tune out the (already sparse) dialogue and have no idea what is even happening in the game as a result O_o Keep it up!

TeddyBearBonfire

You're right. I removed the part saying exactly what it is.

Goblinounours

Fantastic episode. Started with a confused radio message from the guys at Neebs Gaming. There’s always time for decorating, a cool base is end game in Sunautica! I love reliving the discovery through new eyes. Thanks.

Rogue Variable

Very well done Amber, did a good bit of exploring! My comments are way too long, but I'm trying to be as helpful as I can without spoilers! The reason you didn't find anything at Lifepod 17 is because you were there once before. The wreck close to Lifepod 17 has an important item within it, just have to find your way in! Tip: When exploring wrecks I like to park the Seamoth as close to the entrance/exit as I can, they can be surprisingly complex mazes inside and sometimes it's everything you can do to find your way out. That's where that tool that leaves glowing "bread crumbs" comes in handy, but not entirely necessary if you have good sense of direction. Which you actually seem to! Simply head back towards Lifepod 19 again when you wish to revisit those dark caves where you found the Blood Root trees. If and when you do, there were some lovely new resources you missed on the walls and ceilings in that area. Incidentally, the red grass areas are somewhat safe havens and a good place to consider main base building. Also, never Hesitate to build small bases when you're far from home and place beacons by them, they can often be a good base of operations when you need to go back to gather unique resources in the region. Not all vehicle mods need the Modification Station, (usually first level mods are done on the fabricator), so I'd re-pin that Seamoth MK1 Depth Module! Or, as others have already mentioned in your last vid, or the one before, there a free one in the Seamoth by on the Aurora you missed. Doing a great job. Next episode I highly suggest finding your way into that wreck I mentioned above, an item in there will help you navigate in the future, especially because many of the tidbits from survivors mentions certain directions to find them. You were asking what purpose you might have for building the foundation platforms under your base, well, while building or deconstructing base parts you'll see to the side or on top of your screen it shows you how building or removing base parts affects the strength of of your base. You'll see a total number, I think it starts at 9.0, and adding more base parts you'll see it tell you -1 or +1 or more depending on the part being added or deleted. The larger your base gets, the weaker it becomes. But to combat that, there's two ways to strengthen your base, either by adding foundation platforms or wall reinforcements. Oddly, the foundation platforms don't need to be directly attached to your base to add strength to it, just near your base. So you can use them for parking areas or other uses when you find some handy base parts yet. One last tip, the lifepods and other signals are guides to go deeper and find new and needed resources. Investigating the Degassi settlers is one of the two main plot lines in the game and lead you to resources and waypoints. If ever you're wondering where or how to find/make an item you don't seem to have the resources for, go find the next signal. Also, almost every time you head towards signals there are wrecks and resources nearby or along the way, keep your eyes peeled! Make sure at Lifepods you explore in and all around them, because sometimes they're just there to lead you to the next needed resource.

Perry Wolf

Careful Goblin, a few spoilers in there! She already has a marker guiding her towards one of those destinations, so try not to tell her directly! If not too late, you should edit your first main hint to state she has a signal marker for a "Rendezvous Point" that's highly worth exploring. I know for those of us who have played it, or played it several times, it's easy to mention things in passing without thinking about it. But every time you post a hint, ask yourself, is this a spoiler, is she far enough along and seen enough that this is something she saw but didn't realize, (meaning it may be ok to mention), and so on. 😊

You did a lot of progress! Well done Amber! It's been so many years since I last played Subnautica! Love experiencing it through your playthrough all over again. It second-best to being able to forget everything and starting over myself (which I can't, obviously). I would have one big hint to share, for I already gave some tips in the comments of the previous video (and was quite happy to see you do all of them in this video ^^) and after that, I'm pretty much blanking : there's a marker you got leading you to the South-West for about 1.5km from your spawn life-pod, you definitely wanna go there, it's a pretty chill place! I remember finding it accidentally and finding cool stuff there. All I can recommend is having a solid habitat, a moonpool and the upgrade stuff going so you can stay as much as possible in your seamoth as possible. Also the Prawn-Suit is gonna be a must have. You've already seen mineral formations you couldn't harvest, that's what the Prawn-Suit is for. Also ALWAYS have Beacons with you to mark interesting points you wanna go back to later. Also, you seemed to wonder, I believe the platforms are supposed to be used to place plantations. Y'know all those seeds you can find, you'll be able to plant them in little pots at one point. The platforms help having them leveled. After the hint I mentionned above, and exploring a bit further around the island where you found the big alien base, I started going deeper and deeper in dark caverns, and that's when the pants-shitting started happening. The only way I can describe it is that I felt some kind of reverse claustrophobia where I was trying to dive into zones where I had no visibility. When I was starting to loose sight of the cliffs and seafloor around me, oh god, the horror! The only thing that prevented me from having a heart-attack was the seamoth sonar upgrade. It allowed me to see the terrain as a topology grid around me even in the dark for a short moment, it was like a kid-light at night, it was reassuring, I was using the thing constantly to keep an idea of my surroundings. And for the love of god, whatever you do, if you go exploring the surface-level of the seafloor, be very aware of your surroundings. The game's map is sort-of shaped like the top of a mountain, and most of the cool bits are in caverns. But say you go on the other side of the Aurora, at some point, the map starts dropping suddenly to like -3000m with 0 decorations or anything. If you're going on an exploration, I do not recommend using the Prawn-Suit, because it's not great to swim (unlike the Seamoth), it's a walker vehicle. If you fall with it beyond the used part of the map... Let's just say my most horrifying, vivid and anxiety-inducing memory of Subnautica happened like that. I was all like "yaaaaay the Prawn-Suit's awesome! I'm invincible! I can go anywhere! Yaaaay, oh, beeg hole behind the Aurora! What's down th- oh... oOoooOoh... OH FUCK NO!"

Goblinounours

Loving this series, my favourite since BloodBorne (sorry HollowKnight fans)

Ethilin

You have the Seamoth, you can leave the Seaglider behind and just take the flashlight and save space.

NetWitch

Great episode! I love the endless string of 'oh . . ooh, what is that?' and 'why is it so dark!'

trengilly

Making progress, love it. Already looking forward to the next one.

Mark Robson

It is so much fun watching you go through the same fearful experiences that I myself did. The sound design combined with the vastness of the underwater open ocean can make for bonechilling moments. But we brave on and face our fears! Loved this episode & as you yourself said, you are indeed getting better. Can't wait for next episode, this one just flew by.

J. P.

Another fun episode :D Didn't find any video errors, though there are a few ofthose audio glitches. Not a big deal, though.
