Russia-Ukraine Flash Report 26NOV23 15:30 PST - Historic Storm Blasts Southern Ukraine

The most powerful storm recorded in 100 years roared across the Black Sea, creating 9 meter (30 feet) high waves, with winds of 131 kph (80 mph) recorded in western Crimea. At the time of publication, the center of circulation was near the city of Dnipro.

Despite the weather, the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out 33 airstrikes across the line of conflict. Tractability in the Avdiivka area of operation has been significantly impacted.

Water and heat is knocked out across all of occupied Crimea. There is major damage to the electrical infrastructure in the Odesa region, which is experiencing blizzard conditions.

The Russian Ministry of Defense appeared to repeat its tactics in February and March 2023, launching a larger group of ground attacks in some areas in an attempt to beat the weather. They were unsuccessful.

Focusing on Avdiivka, cloudy, cold, and windy conditions with only a few breaks are forecasted through December 1.

More in the SITREP tonight. A note of housekeeping, there will not be an Israel-Hamas SITREP due to the ongoing cease-fire.
