What's the big story? Russia is being forced to make choices on troop deployments based on Ukrainian actions and inactions and uncertainty of where the spring offensive will happen. For this reason, we assess that Ukraine has retaken the initiative outside of Bakhmut. Read the report to understand why.
The second story? Bakhmut holds, and with the Ukrainian offensive inching closer (when not where), the fighting is taking on a Stalingrad feel.
