(Darkness
Then,
Spotlight on Cody unconscious.
The rain is no longer falling.
A high pitched wind blows instead.T
he sound of a little girl laughing is heard
A second light reveals
The Little Girl
Standing over Cody.
There is blood and holes all over her dress.
Her skin is ghostly.
There are dark circles under her eyes.

The Little Girl:
Wake up sleepyhead.

(Cody stirs.
Lights rise revealing a molten dessert of hot coals.
He rises to his feet and immediately
Reacts as if his feet are burning.)

The Little Girl:
Why are you dancing?

Cody:
I’m not dancing
My feet are burning!

The Little Girl:
Of course they’re burning.
We’re standing in hot coals.

Cody:
But there’s nowhere else to stand?

The Little Girl:
Here, wear these.
They’ll protect your feet.

(She presents to him a pair of bright red heels.
He grabs them and quickly puts them on his feet,
Though not without a struggle.
He is not accustomed to wearing heels.)

Cody:
Were these all you could find?

The LIttle Girl:
Nope! I picked this pair out especially for you!

Cody:
Wait a second...

The Little Girl:
What is it?

Cody:
I saw you die.

The Little Girl:
You mean you let that monster kill me.

Cody:
I’m sorry.
I froze.
I was so scared.

The Little Girl:
You failed to save your friend.

Cody:
How are you alive right now?

The Little Girl:
Death doesn’t last long in a place like this.

Cody:
But Sean...
Or at least,
The monster that he became...
He impaled himself.

The Little Girl:
He’s probably come back to life by now.
He’ll be stuck in that tower forever.
He’ll never remember who he use to be.

(In the distance, a bovine screech is heard.)

The Little Girl:
But fret not Cody.
It’s not too late to save your beloved Rose.

Cody:
You seem different since you died.

The Little Girl:
Death has that effect on people.
We should hurry. Soon the sun will rise.
And the ground will get even hotter.
Not even those shoes will protect you then.
