Question: If you could improve 1 thing about our streaming concerts, what would you change?

If you could improve 1 thing about our streaming concerts, what would you change?

Here are some ideas, or let me know your own:
1. More variety in songs, less repeat from previous concres.
2. Better video quality.
3. Better Audio Quality
4. Better/Brighter Lighting.
5. New Songs we've never heard before.

Comments

this is EXACTLY the thing. well observed. I got a fix in mind.

Abney Park

I would appreciate a bit brighter lighting, or possibly just less fog. A bit less repeats from previous concerts, but otherwise I have enjoyed them all.

Erik Peterson

I'm in the fog/lighting category. Beyond that, my only complaint is that at the last show we kept hearing notifications of some sort on the stream. But that was ONLY that show, so hopefully it was just a one-off. Also hopefully it's not on the download version. I haven't re-listened to it yet. Love the streaming concerts! If you keep having them, I'll keep coming.

Lori D

More variety would be great!

Michael Kohne

I'd support that

Ulrike Bogdan

A streamlined purchase and ticketing process; after we finally sorted out email issues from my end, I was ready to download the last show, only to get 403 Forbidden errors trying to download, before you came to the rescue and sent me a link. I'm not sure how often this is an issue, however, as prior shows downloaded fine; they just require a series of steps, going in to buy as if paying a second time, then putting in a code to remove the charge. The shows themselves are awesome, it's just getting past the bouncers and getting in the door...

Jonathan Coolidge

a web cam attached to a model air ship that flies around the band ( on a hidden track ) as they play giving different prospective of every one playing their instruments also adding to the lighting effects and making it a more unique experience

Simon Anderson

Better Lighting & less Fog. But to be honest the lighting is really good, it's the lights reflecting off the fog that makes it hard for me to see.

Reggie Young

I am torn between better audio quality (always a good thing for a musical group) and new songs we haven't heard before. More variety comes in third behind these two. Due to limitations of my PC, I always have to turn down the video quality to avoid major buffering on my end, so improving the video quality will do nothing for me, or make it worse for me.

Wild Card

I always have trouble hearing what Carey is saying in the back. Looking forward to hearing some of the "lost" songs. And I agree, bringing in a female for some duets more would be lovely - maybe Jody can be bribed!

Jessica Bradshaw

Love pretty much everything. Even the "mess ups" like when the fog machine goes out of control or a song gets "whoops" just adds to the character of it!

Tony Parisi

I'm using my standard desktop PC speakers

DrWex

thanks for this input! Ironically, I think we started fixing this around about when you started missing them! Check out this next one, and let me know if we are doing better.

Abney Park

More variety. my wife and I went to all of them till recently. We stopped because they all were the same show basically.

C. Scott Kippen

yeah, thats got to be it. What where you listening on before?

Abney Park

Thanks, that makes me think it's something on my end. I may try listening to the next one with high-quality headphones and see if that helps.

DrWex

honestly, the audio signal is pretty pristine. The only thing between our instruments and you is the same $5,000 mixer that we mix our albums on. Has this been a problem in the last couple shows? When I listen back, my ears think it sounds fantastic.

Abney Park

I agree with the better lighting. I'll also chip in for better audio because I love hearing your sound and the parts each of you play in bringing that sound to life. That said, I'm always unsure how much of that is under your control. After all, there are so many layers of technology in between you and the audience that it's not clear how to pinpoint where quality is being degraded. I don't know what the tech lift would be to provide an audio-only high-quality stream but tbh I would spend most of the concert listening to that. Just like at a live show I'll often close my eyes to try and soak in the sound better. I love seeing who's on stage, the costuming, etc. But at the end of the day I'm here for Abney Park music.

DrWex

I'm on it, thanks!@

Abney Park

alright, thats actually the easiest one here. I'm on it@!

Abney Park

alright, I'm on it. Honestly I think it might b e a camera setting I can adjust (in regards to the blue light)

Abney Park

I'm in the better lighting group.

Janet Worley

A little more variety- getting back into some deep tracks from older albums would be great! Also, some guest vocals like you did with the Subaquatic Opera concert would be great- that duet with the young lady from the stage show was chilling! I'd like to hear a treatment like that on "Letters Between..."

Jeff Gilbert

VIP backed, looking forward to it! (\^_^/)

Benjamin Lange

I would say better/more lighting or just less dark.

Philip Stevens

And go easy on that blue light! That can be a little overwhelming sometimes!

Jeff Gilbert

Better lighting/less fog. I'd like to be able to see the folks in the back of the room.

Mickie Erickson

this is a great idea.

Abney Park

oh, yeah, good point! Had some serious fog overloads recently! hahah!

Abney Park

for you, DONE!

Abney Park

Stream at a European friendly time... Haha 😸

Benjamin Lange

In the chat, there is always a round of folk advertising what they are drinking. (if you plan that far ahead LOL), maybe post what you will be drinking ahead of time, some of us might want to try to match it!

William Moss

Variety in songs will be nice and always looking forward to hearing new live! Video and audio are always a treat to see what upgrades have happened since the last livestream. Alas only would ask a little less fog so you all stop disappearing so much ! LOL

S Stevens

Play Villainizer, LOL! In the after-party, I like to hear anecdotes from the band members.
