Whats Coming Up?
Added 2020-09-10 17:53:53 +0000 UTCHey guys, this is Robert from Abney Park. Sorry I've been absently this month, I've been swamped with the last streaming concert...and suddenly I realized I have to finish the new album!
So I wanted to drop you a quick line to tell you about what perks are coming up, so you don't think we are ignoring you.
First off, a new track is coming!
JUST for you patrons, we've got a new song called Quarantine. This is a super funny comedy piece, written originally by our trumpet player Carey for his band Good Co Music. But then I got ahold of it, wrote a second chorus, and put massive drums beats and funk to it! It's a totally blast, and will get stuck in your head, and its JUST for you patrons.
This should come either this week, or early next week.
The next thing coming is a song I wrote that I don't know what to do with.
I lived in Hawaii as a boy, and I go back as often as I can, because it feels like home to me. I also listen to a lot of Hawaiian music, so last time I was in Hawaii I sat with my six string Mele baritone, and wrote "A Hui Hou, Hawai'i". Its a beautiful sweet and melancholy track, but its not very "Abney Park" as my goal was to make Hawaiian music,. SO I figure I'll give it to you guys as an exclusive Patreon perk.
Exclusive Live Singalong!
This fall and winter, me and Kristina thought you guy might want to join us around the piano for some Patreon exclusive sing alongs! This will be a preset HD streamed session of me and Kristina and her piano, and we'll do some acoustic Abney Park songs, and maybe some show tunes, or Christmas songs when we get closer to Christmas.
...free for patrons a the "includes streaming concerts" level. And, at least for now, we are going to limit these just to patrons: if we keep the party size low I can read you comments, take requests, etc.
Finally Movie Night With The Captain
We talked last month about having some movie nights, where we all watch a film togeter and chat online while we are doing it. I'm a HUGE movie fan, and frankly, it'd be a blast for me.
When would you guys like to do this? What would you like to watch?
One idea I have is binging Over The Garden Wall, which is a gorgeous, hysterical, and creepy musical...that's animated...and even set in a (lightly) steampunked world. Would anybody be interested in joining me for this? If so, what time(s) and day(s) work?

Oh, forgot to say, "Yeah! Hawaiian songs! Yeah!" Also, really tempted by sing along. Perfect way to annoy husband. He's not into Abney Park, but tolerates my passion for your music.

2020-09-12 16:00:34 +0000 UTCNot on a Thursday. Might conflict with homebrew club meetings which I may not miss since I am the secretary (i.e., I do all the work). Not too late, either; I am in Iowa. Saturday nights sounds good to me, too.

2020-09-11 02:24:12 +0000 UTCI've been wanting to see Over the Garden Wall. I'm pretty flexible as to day/time.

2020-09-10 21:51:14 +0000 UTCI HAVE seen Over The Garden Wall. It's more of a 10-episode mini series, or it was the last time I looked at the DVD. It's semi-creepy, how-did-I-get-here, is there a nefarious plot, sort of adventure. It's one of those rare cartoon shows that's seems more suited to adults not because it's gross or cusses, but because the subject matter is more kind of adult-level intellect. I'm a fan.

2020-09-10 19:23:51 +0000 UTCI haven't seen that either! It sounds fun! Is it kid appropriate? If so, I'd think 6pm would be good, but if not, then 8 or 9pm?
