patreon

Hey, am I doing this right?

When other patreon artists post the free stuff, do they put it in a post like I am doing?

Or is there a better way?

I dont want anybody to miss anything.

:)

sorry for resurrecting an old post, this is my first day on Patreon and i have a lot of catching up too do. |the way that i have found to work around this is to click on the "Site Map" button, that gives you the list of all the buttons on the site. and the LOGIN button will be there.

Thanks for that. Yes, I know what is happen. There is a server side anti-spam company out there that has our website labeled as spam. Apparently, some fan who signed up for our mailing list (its opt-in only) reported us as spam. This means that whoever hosts your email blocks anything from us before it even gets to you. So it won't be in your spam folder, as it never reaches you. This is tricky for us to fix, because its your email hosting company thats doing it. The only ting I can suggest (other then if you call your hosting company and bitch them out) is that you tell me what you want to buy, and we do the transaction without using the cart. Since your a Patron, I'd be happy to help you with this.

When I go to http://www.abneypark.com/market/ and try to log in, it remembers my email from when I first logged in many years ago. I cannot remember my password and when I try to use the forgot your password option an email never arrives, main folder, spam folder, nowhere. When I tried the contact us option, it says that a message was successfully sent, but I never receive any reply. I think the last CD I have of yours, I bought from you personally at Dragoncon and I need to catch up.

Is their something specific you are looking for their that I can hook you up with?

Abney Park

Our website? Www.abneypark.com? My only guess is you are from a country that blocks it, on using an interment service that blocks it. We haven't even had the same website for years. You might call your interment host and ask them why.

Abney Park

Captain Robert, sorry to bother you here, but I haven't been able to access your website for years. All my pleas for help have been left unanswered. I'd appreciate any help in making this right.

Kenneth Griffin

i think you doin it right .. i like it ...so why compare with others ? ;-)

Elisabeth Gundelach

I don't mean anything in particular. Just that you asked us a question, and then( at the time) there was no feedback. I like the way you are heaping goodies on us, keep up the great work! Looking very forward to the radio drama.

Kirsten Weispfenning

Thanks Paul!

Abney Park

great! And if they ever get annoying, you can turn it off. Then just check in whenever you want.

Abney Park

What do you mean?

Abney Park

...and silence.

Kirsten Weispfenning

Wouldn't know, you're the first one i've supported. Emails work for me, i'll miss it otherwise.

Elizabeth Watts

I think you're doing great. Erica (Unwoman) is on Patreon too and she also adds some extra info and at times lyrics to her posts as well. Thank you for everything you do. :)

Paul Kater

So far good for me. It's the first time I've done patreon though. I am fine if you did less too, only cause I know you need time to work on new stuff and patreon is supposed to help you get that.

Elka Kappel Wozniak

Fantastic job so far!

Arthur Roy

Was curious about some stickers you had years ago that were a vinyl cut Airship Pirates logo, Do you still have them about anywhere? Or a PDF or some file that one could use. I'd love to throw that sticker on my laptop, bike helmet, and that sort. Thanks!

DustnRain

This is wonderful so far!

DustnRain

Making posts for the free stuff works great for me. I don't want to miss anything!

David Dierks

I like that when you post a free song, you post the lyrics too - - -thank you

Barbara Medhurst

Cool, yeah, I'm just trying to get it right. I've never done this before, so I am no expert. And its SUPER wonderful for me, so I want to keep everybody as happy as I can.

Abney Park

Yes, but I don't want to miss stuff you post =). I'm pretty sure I'm not communicating clearly so let's not turn this into discussion. I didn't mean only notifications, it also creates some sense of looking forward to something. It feels like "Oh boy it's Tuesday can't wait to see what they'll share today". Well at least that's how it is for me, as I said just a humble opinion.

Roman

did you know you can turn off notifications in your settings?

Abney Park

Well it's understandable that writers need a lot of time to write so they may only post once a moth with progress updates and maybe some free snippets to share. Some people like Youtube creators can post every Tuesday or something with links to videos. I can't tell you how to do it right, but what I'm trying to say is that's Patreon is a bit different from social networks and probably shouldn't be used to post random thought and socialize with fans. All this is obviously only my humble opinion and you're awesome anyways.

Roman

I'm not sure I understand. What do you mean by semi-sceduled?

Abney Park

Some people I support put things on sharing services like zippyshare and include links in their posts. A lot depends on whether you intend to make the Patron-released media available to the public at a later date.

DrWex

Well other artists I support usually have semi-scheduled posts with summary. I like to not get a ton of notifications as I'm getting them via mail but I don't want to miss anything either.

Roman

Someone else I support produces 3d files, he posts the files in a message like you're doing. One nice thing is it allows new Patrons to scroll through the older posts and get all the stuff released previously.

KagatoAMV

This is the first time I have ever done this. I wish I could be of more help. I love what you've done so far but really I am looking forward to the radio style stories.
