Whalefall
Added 2017-02-12 14:43:30 +0000 UTCI was just reading about what oceanographers call "Whalefall". When a whale dies in the ocean, its body becomes a town for fish, and other creatures, who feed of the carcass and live in it for decades. Being me, I immediately pictured a massive airship crashing in the wastelands, and scavenger folk moving in a making a town out of the wreckage. The town of Whalefall needs to be in my next novel.

2017-02-16 22:57:41 +0000 UTCReminds me of Rey living and working in the hulks of old Empire ships and equipment during Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I love this idea.

2017-02-13 17:21:34 +0000 UTCI'm imagining a sort of soft calm ballad about the town... a sort of out-of-the-way resting point... like maybe the town started as just a scavenge spot, but grew to be more than that, with a strong sense of community...

2017-02-12 19:05:54 +0000 UTCOr you could write a story from the airship's point of view, as it mourns being grounded and dreams of a day that it will fly free again.

2017-02-12 18:37:27 +0000 UTCCould totally see that, but a downed airship begs to be resurrected, returned to the sky. Or at least that would be the dreams of the children residing in such a place. What a wonderful place to have an imagination!
