really great episode, you say something along the lines of the political pendulum in brazil swinging from far right to far left using Lula as the far left candidate. Lula is absolutely not far left. Does he have social democracy policies? sure. But make no mistake, his administration has always favored the capitalist dominant class. Many think of him as a labour politician because of his socialist-union-aggressive policies back in the 80's. This hasn't been his approach since the first election he actually won in 2002, when he and the party he runs for released the famous "letter to the brazilian people" that basically reassured the market that if elected, he wouldn't enforce any radical or even reformist policies of any kind. Lula's adminstrations are first and foremost a continuation to the neo liberal regime successfully implemented by FHC. cheers from Brazil, Josh!
