Recommendations, Bot updates, Discord access +

Since 2018, I’ve been publishing podcasts, essays, artworks, newsletters, and research materials on a near weekly basis. One of the most rewarding parts of this project is that it has gathered an amazing audience of talented people.

If you're new here or recently lost access to Discord, please use this link to join. The bot will automatically port you into the server:

Patreon recently rolled out an update to their Discord bot which caused a bit of chaos across the platform. Using the link above should resolve any and all issues.

Founded in 2020, Do Not Research is a thriving community of over 1,600 members. The Discord server has become a vital source of inspiration and a unique place to explore online trends, news stories and emergent phenomena across social media.

We frequently host online and IRL events, like book launches, screenings and other meetups. It's also become a hub for collaborations between artists, creatives, shitposters, and intellectuals from a variety of different backgrounds.

Passing along a few recommendations for this week:

ART:

If you’re in NYC this summer, I recommend stopping by 2 shows that are up right now: Harris Rosenblum: “Inorganic Demons” at Sara’s, Josh Kline: Project for a New American Century and Refigured, curated by Christian Paul, both of which are up at the Whitney. Highly recommend checking these out if you are in town. Refigured is on the first floor gallery of the museum and admission is free!

READ:

Anti-Social Socialism Club by Dustin ‘Dino’ Guastella in Damaged Magazine. “Defunders have reimagined the present outcome of a crisis as a future solution to that crisis.” This is one of the most impactful and challenging reads I’ve recently come across. If you’re interested in the “Old New Left” (recently discussed with podcast guest Jen Pan), this piece is a striking counter to the austerity politics so common on today’s left.

LISTEN:

Ben Davis is on the New Models podcast talking about his recent Quantitative Aesthetics piece in ArtNet. Episode is out this week on the private feed.

Recently, I'm really vibing with the Levels of Nuance Podcast. Its rather elite and super underground. Hesitant to even describe it. I’ve already said too much.

FITNESS:

I’m 9 weeks into a cutting phase and I’m having a lot of success with this app: Chronometer. I’m just using the free version, you don’t have to do anything fancy. I’ll probably write a detailed post about the whole process once its done. If you haven’t tried logging your nutrition before and your trying to get lean for the summer, I would definitely check this out.
